Mini battery kit for ~$50?? I think so! *PICS*
Mini battery kit for ~$50?? I think so! *PICS*
UPDATE #3
Changed out the negative terminal for something a little more aesthetically pleasing and picked up my postive terminal cover from the dealer. Still working like a champ.

UPDATE #2
We got 4" of snow for the past 2 days and temperatures ~28-34*. Battery worked perfectly without a hitch.
UPDATE #1
I've changed my design a bit, as you can see.

I decided that I didn't want to pay a major premium for a mini battery kit as my stock one started to go. I started with an Everstart ES50N18LA3 lead-acid motorcycle battery rated at 260 cold cranking amps. (*note* You'll need to fill the battery with acid which is provided with filling tubes.) Next you'll need a pair of threaded automotive battery posts. Both items were purchased at Wal-mart for ~$50. I had to fab up a pair of brackets to connect the motorcycle-style terminals to the battery posts. A couple pieces of aluminum cut and drilled to fit worked perfectly. The J bolts that hold the battery tie down had to be cut about a half an inch and re-bent into J's. This was accomplished with a hacksaw and a vice. Here's the result.

Overall I lost about 15lbs off the front end and it starts up just as well, if not better than stock. Its not turned parallel with the car due to being a bit to long for the factory tiedown to cover to top. Let me know what you guys think.

How is this functional? What purpose does it serve? From the looks of that you can not run a shorter UICP. So what then? Weight reduction? If you say yes then....well I am not like some people on here......so I guess I will just keep my thoughts to myself.
