Lets consider a few things. I would still have to buy posts, another 11 dollars from the site that you posted, the battery itself for $77, pay $10.62 for shipping and wait 5 business days for the part. A grand total of nearly $100 and a wait when my stock one was dying. I think I prefer my method.

Are you smoking crack or mathematically illiterate? Most all other mini battery kits use Odyssey batteries which AT BEST for our size have ~300 cold cranking amps. Does 300 look like 2/3rds more power than 260 to you?

I don't think this was the best idea..

well done.. i just like how all the haters who overpaid for a battery kit come on here saying.. its ghetto this and that.. its ugly.. it wonk crank your engine.. idiots.. it doesn't take much to crank this ****..!! "your're been cheap" who gives a fudge.. its all about gaining performance no matter how much you paid.. I like the face of fellow evo drivers in their IX's who say.. am AMS tuned and spent like 3G's and say there pushing ~340.. and i have no clue what i push and my parts are second hand and ebay.. my total is less than "2G ty.." cuz i dnt got deep pockets like them.. and they get spanked by my ugly parts evo.. hahaha

PS: what number did you use on the sanding on the spark plug cover..?

I can add some without being a vendor in this post.

To properly reloacte the battery to the trunk you either need a dry cell or proper venting and a sealed battery box with venting to the outside. Although for a car that never makes it to the track it really doesn't matter. At this rate if you don't plan to run a shorter IC pipe or track the car then a smaller/mini battery really is only gratification for yourself. Nothing wrong with it.

The way you installed it reusing the stock tie down will not pass most tech inspections. It is not safe. Also the connections sticking out like that is not safe and poses a hazard when working around the area. Also it does not seem like a kit because all you changed was the batteries and the terminals.

Nothing wrong with the DIY attempt! Now fix that valve cover!

Vendor plug: Check out our battery kit.

Appreciate the feedback, did you see the "Version 2" of my DIY job? Here's a new picture of the spark cover, finished up with the matte coating. I think it looks good.

First off, thank you. I just roughed it up with a brillo pad to get the oil and such off the surface, masked the letters, used a plastic bonding "hammered finish" spray can for the cover and brushed the letters with a flat red model paint. Covered all that up with a matte coat seen above to get rid of the shiny-ness

AMS mini battery has 680 CCA

Buschur mini battery's CCA is not listed, but has MORE than stock

Kudos for doing this yourself, but I'd rather pay the extra $150.00, and get something that's made for cars..

I wont post in your thread anymore..

Yes, Frenchy you are absolutely correct TVA is absolutely wrong.

The Odyssey dry cell we use in our kits is 680 cc amps. The solid black battery we use to use was 800 cc amps.

This motorcycle battery rated at 260 cc amps is just not going to work well in a cold climate, actually, I don't think it will work at all. Put that on an EVO where it's 0 F and the car is not going to start.

I am happy you did your batter for $50 but it is no comparison to the kits that are offered elsewhere.

I don't think ANYONE sells a battery kit for $300 plus as was mentioned. Ours is $225. I think we have the most unique kit now as the flat panel on the side leaves you a kick butt place to mount an ignition box, catch can or whatever. It's good enough to pass tech at every drag event and road race event we have attended.

Also, it's very funny to me to be involved on a site with such a poor outlook on "performance" anymore. I read this about 50 times a day now "well for the money I saved who cares about 5, 10, 15, 20 whp or that won't make a difference, what's 20 pounds who cares?" Holy freaking crap Batman. If weight and hp didn't make a difference we wouldn't be out setting records for the last 18+ years now...................................

Appreciate the feedback but where did you grab the info that AMS's battery has 680 CCA? The PC680 which a previous vendor listed with their kit is rated at 220 CCA. I know it is pretty popular as a mini battery. The only batteries from Odyssey that come close to the rating that you're advertising are the PC1200 (550 CCA) or the PC1500 (825 CCA). These batteries weigh 38.2 and 53 lbs respectively. Hardly a lightweight change. All information was gathered from the Odyssey spec sheet found here. http://www.enersysreservepower.com/d...M-001_0406.pdf

Dave, glad to have a guru post in my thread however I believe that you're using the PC680 for your mini battery kit, yes? If so it's rated at 300 Cranking Amps at 32*F and 220 Cold Cranking Amps at 0*F. The 680 CA advertised is for a 5 second hot cranking amp pulse, not cold. The battery I'm using is rated at 260 CA at 32*F

AMS's website..

http://www.amsperformance.com/store/...products_id=46

And as Dave mentioned, the battery they sell is rated the same as AMS's..

Plus Dave brought up a point that I hadn't even thought of, if your planning on doing any type of organized racing, I doubt the option you selected would pass tech.
