Trading In My SRT-4 For An EVO...Help!

Whats up guys, I currently own a 2004 SRT-4. It has a 50trim, injectors, intercooler etc all supporting mods etc. I have had lots of fun with it but its time to go a step up. Spinning the front tires from 1st to 2nd doesn't cut it anymore

I found an '05 MR that looks good to me, and has some work done to it. Here's the link with pics and info:

http://www.allcityautosale.com/Deale...A8c1ugsvJJs%3d

I know a pretty good amount about Evo's, but Im no expert. I know going off of pictures is hard to tell, but it looks really clean. Let me know what you guys think, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

All info about mods etc, are right under the picture.

For that much money you could get yourself into a nice evo IX.

Thanks bro...Yea I know, I like the way it looks though. I could always take that off. I have a Perrin bfmic on my SRT4 now with no grill at all, and theres a bunch of dings in it, so I kind of like the fact its somewhat protected.

Yea, Ive found a few, but alot of them are in Jersey, and I dont want to pay the sales tax in one shot when I go to register the vehicle.

Car looks clean...If you are that serious about buying it I would have the dealership do a compression test on it before purchasing...

Honestly I'm not too impressed. The pictures make the car look clean but from what I saw in the description of the car, the dealer doesn't really know anything about that car. They are just giving you the basic facts that everybody knows. And like nemsin said, you can find a clean IX for that price or less. My buddy bought a silver IX SE for $17,500 with basically the same mods and 69k miles. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying that car...just my .02
It's better to buy an unmodified EVO IMO

Looks good, Brembos need some work though.

I might have missed it but I didn't see anything about the 60k being done?

It actually might be the factory meshes. Just painted a weird silver. The strut bar was also painted silver.

And for those that say you can find a IX same price, you have to realize that this specific car is from a dealer who will take anything as a trade-in. Actual Evo owners might not do this trade. If someone can find a IX that cost less than $18k at a dealer, I would like to see it.

Looks like those pics have a lot of photoshopping on them. Could be a sign that they're trying to make the car look nicer than it really is. And like some others have said, if you can be patient, I'm sure you can find a IX for the same price if not cheaper.

that exhaust manifold is complete junk. it will crack.
car looks way to riced out and cheaply modded IMO
oh yea, your gonna need a 60k service done on it as soon as you buy it...

funny that they are selling it as an MR, but they say it has a 5 speed transmission and GSR headlights

I doubt they would do that, but I'll ask...cuz if it were a lemon they would try and sell it anyways. This is Queens New York!

Most dealerships don't know jack squat about the cars they carry especially cars like ours. Maybe a Mitsu certified dealership would know the ins and outs but not any dealer. Wow, $17k for a IX with those mods?! Thats crazy bro, I have not found one around me for that price. Maybe its b/c I live in NY, and everything is overpriced lol, idk.

Your right, does not say anything about the 60k service being done to it. Can't I call Mitsu with the VIN number and find out everything about it. (read from this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...oking-evo.html) Also what about the Brembo's did you notice bro?

Yes x2. I cannot afford an EVO from a private seller, no way, and like you said, a guy who has an evo will not trade for my SRT. Thats downgrading, even though my SRT is fast as hell, it would make no sense. I am buying from a dealer b/c I have to finance it and use the trade in as my downpayment and MAYBE throw some extra cash on top. The KBB value for the this car at this mileage is right around 23k...i can always negotiate the price too. Bro, there's no way anybody will be able to find a IX in good condition for less than 18k, especially bc I live in NY.

Besides doing a compression test on the motor (b/c i dont think theyll do that for me) is there any other way to tell that the motor is strong? But THANK YOU guys for helping me out, I am serious about owning an EVO, Ive been having wet dreams about getting one since I was a little kid.

Please, any other opinions/input are greatly appreciated, thanks again.

The Car "Looks" really good... but a few things seem a lil suspect to me. Now maybe this is just me and I don't know because I don't own an MR but Why does this "MR" appear to have GSR Headlights (without the Fogs cause the 05s didn't come with fogs or HID) and stock recaro seats instead of MR seats? Do ya'll see this? Am I crazy??
