Can you replace the coil with the compressor on the car?

Yes, that's how I did it. Just remove the front bumper, then the bolts to the oil cooler so that you can set it aside.

Then remove the belt, use an impact gun and a 14mm socket to pull off the clutch and shims. Then a snap ring holds the pulley on, and when you remove that, a snap ring holds the coil on.

Simple as that, then replace, and reverse the instructions.

Incorrect, I did this on my car, while it was on the car, and it took around an hour or less.

Ok great, thanks

I didn't realize the pulley was part of the piece under the outer clutch cover assembly.

Mine doesn't blow hot air, but even after a recharge it doesn't feel as cold as it used to be when I first got the car. Should I even bother with this kit?

Only if the compressor is not coming on. If it's running fine but still not blowing cold, you should probably do a complete drain / charge professionally. You vacuum out all of the moisture out of the system, add the correct amount of oil in, and then charge it completely to the recommended pressures both high and low.

Should I recycle or new fill?

I would fill new personally, and if you can.

So I adjusted my shims today and that didn't fix my problem. For Sierra and Golf (Shi*s and giggles) I tried tapping on the thing to see what happened and nothing.

Now... it was out of spec and needed the shims changed anyway, which is why I started with that... question though. If the A/C system is low on 134a... will this effect the clutch not engaging? My clutch doesn't spin at all... tomorrow I'm going to test the relay or whatever it is... (I know... I'm out of order).

let me know.

It can't be the R134, because regardless of whether or not it's charged, the clutch still doesn't engage... So my next logical plan of attack is of course to see if the relay is functioning and the clutch's magnets are actually getting power.

Does that make sense?

i think the 134 being low can cause the compressor not to come on, to save it from locking up...

There is a pressure switch. Not enough refrigerant and the compressor does not run.
