Fuel pump started whining REALLY loud today
Well my year old Walbro 255 started to whine retarded loud today. I'm not sure if the pump is bad or what, so figured I'd ask what you guys thought. It has maybe 5k miles on it, and had the normal faint whine. Auto crossed the car today, no issues. The temp outside was like 90*+ and high humidity. On the way home I started to hear a strange sound as I was coasting to stops, thought it was my brakes rubbing, like a loud squeal and whine. Then noticed it got quieter if I touched the gas. Get out of the car and from under the back of it you can hear the fuel pump excessively. I did a hard 2-3-4 pull and the a/f were where they should be in the lower 11's @ wot. Started the day with over a half tank of fuel and never got under a 1/4 tank.
Sound like the pump is taking a crap?
Not sure if this is the right forum section... but hopefully.

Thank you sir.. I searched but didn't find that thread. Well it's still a toss up, some say replace asap, some say no need it'd done that to them for years. I'm not sure think I will just get another TRE 255, had one in my old VIII and it was silent.
Mine did the same thing, after an autox event and then I drove 2 hrs home...I kept that walbro in there for another 2 months or so and it did it probably 2 or 3 more times. Then I decided to just spend the $75 and get a new one...hasn't done it since...
