Has your EVO ever left you Stranded?
Wow the amount left stranded was a lot higher than I expected. I know these cars are built to last when in stock form, but I suppose mods can compromise that as well as the garage and quality of work done.
Yes, me and three friends decided to hit the PCH from santa monica to wherever it takes us at 2am for a nice ride. Had just fixed my car after an accident and the radiator was leaking. Long story short engine overheats and shoots out some pistons.. leaving us stranded for 3 hours till we finally get help. Good news is got a rebuilt engine after that from RRE
Heh, consider how few cars have had less than two owners, how many of those same owners did their own work, the number of times each car has been modded, how it was modded and why, and it's truly shocking the numbers aren't significantly higher. Look back to 06-07 on the noob forum. Almost everyone who bought a new Evo was greeted with, "Let the modding begin." Better, I recall a fairly big thread on General supported by folks who couldn't afford to keep more than $20 of fuel in their tanks. These same owners sure could find the money to bolt on some useless mod, but don't hold your breath for maintenance expenses.
One time when I didn't know to keep the fast key and my cell phone in two different pockets. The car will not start at all even with that bootleg key that pops out of the fast key. I was about 80 miles away from home good thing I have AAA.
If me blowing my LICP counts then yea, but I wouldnt say I have ever been stranded. Once my battery died, but those two have been it. I bought my evo with 10k miles used and now have 60k. Has been one hell of a reliable machine.
I said yes due to owner error. When I had my 8, i upgraded the fuel pump. Took it out for a test drive. Made it about 10 miles from home when the poor thing started to struggle then ultimately die. Turned out I missed an O-Ring on the pump when installing so fuel wasn't making it's way up the lines. DOH!
To the Previous owner of my evo. I'm looking to hunt you down! You treated an amazing car like a toy and got rid of it to an unsuspecting dealership covering up what you could with cheap repairs, because of you I don't have my rr rs anymore.
in the 180,000 miles I had mine, it never left me stranded. never did anything but put a smile on my face. I hope the one I'm buying this weekend does the same thing.

If I could have bought a IX new I would have for sure (never sold in Canada when released), but I had to settle for hunting forums and online websites for a stock unmolested IX. Certainly the stakes go up as soon as you mod anything on these cars.
Just once. After installing my ETS LICP I took it out for a test drive. About 10 miles from home, the LICP blew off. At first I thought I had blown the motor, but soon realized what happened and had to limp it home at like 25 MPH. Definately not very fun and also taught me to double check the clamps on the IC pipes often.
