Yep, had a similar experience w/ the throttle body hose... Blew off, I was able to get it on there without a wrench, but if I even came close to boost, it would come off again... had to limp the car home for over 100 mi, I was out of cell range for most of the part, and I somehow managed to keep it in vacuum that whole time. I've put a t-bolt clamp on, and it's holding now... So I guess I wasn't stranded... my 1G Talon on E85, now, that's another story, haha...

Damn, did you have much warning on this..? That would not be fun heading into a curve at speed!

Never knew the fast keys were that fragile. If it was me I'd be doing that all the time by accident. Glad I didn't get that opiton.

Been stranded several times for the uicp blowing off, then I left a fresh tool kit I bought on my last outing that happened on, now no problems there. My fu sending unit decided to start flipping out and my gas gauge was reading incorrectly, so it ran out of gas on a fwy interchange right in front of a chp officer, that was fun. Also have had a battery fail on me, uses a jdm sized and posted battery. My own fault I know for the conversion in the first place, but a pita none the less. And finally I had my transfer case fail on me cruising on the fwy out of boost one evening, luckily scm cut me a break and fixed it under warranty. Honestly I think it hasn't been an unreliable car at all after owning a gvr4, two 1g's, a 2g, and a corrado vr6. I knew all tow truck drivers in my area by name.

For the guys that have had their IC pipes blow off is it your upper or lower? Also which brand IC piping were you running or was it just stock? Curious about the mods you guys have if your stock IC pipes blew off.

it is reassuring that the most common 'stranded' issue is just intercooler pipes blowing off...

I'd really love to pick up an evo IX but as someone said earlier, it is a pretty good gamble.

my licp popped off on me on the way to work. i stopped on the left shoulder of the freeway. i jacked up my car on the right side, went towards the front of my car and went under it and reinstalled my licp. i lowered the jack down, put it back in my trunk and i opened my door to get into my car. as i was getting into my car a jeep side swipes me. messes up my right mirror, right fender, and right front wheel. he stops about 200 feet away. we start walking towards each other, but then he throws his hands up in the air, turns around, gets back into his jeep and drives away. i run back into my car to give chase, but my licp pops off again. FML. it's only afterwards that i realize that if i was lowering my car off the jack 5 minutes later than when i did, i probably would've gotten killed.

My 03's had a hard life from previous owners, but here's what I've had in less than two years:

Alternator died and left me stranded on the highway.
Accessory belt got thrown when the A/C compressor clutch froze. Thankfully I live in VT so I can live without A/C. Replaced the belt with one from an M3 and off I went.
A clutch line blew off the cylinder while I was coming home from work one day; two weeks later the clutch slave cylinder died.
IACV went south and car started stalling all the time whenever I would come to a stop or on cold starts

It's ok baby, I still love you.

Only times when my Evo left me screwed was when the ignition coil imploded... Had to get one from Advanced to drive home. Ever since then, I still wonder why it blew because the Advanced one has been working for the past 3 years.

Other then that, if it's down, it's because of my own stupidity like burning the clutch.
