I've never used it myself, but if he says it works then I guess you can take his word for it lol.

I actually replaced my wing about 2 months ago, I have an 04 replaced it with a 06 wing. I had no rust on there, so wait till you take the wing off to see if you actually have rust then take the next step.

I would deff not suggest using wd 40 unless you dont want to paint the trunk again. Wd 40 has silicone and will make your painter want to pull his hair out due to getting fish eyes in the paint job. Even if you prime it they will probabl still surface when it is clearcoated.

I personally would have it media blasted or sand blasted. Or if you want to do it yourself and make it last you would need to get a abrasive wheel similiar to these http://cgi.ebay.com/3M-Roloc-Surface...item56457f0ca8 and then I would suggest using rust treatment like this from napa https://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...282487365&An=0 and then letting it set 24 hrs then filling in any imperfections with a metal glaze. Which you can get at napa as well. Its much thinner than bondo and holds up great. That would be my take on doing it correctly.

What type of surface rust are you talking about? If it's not the actual CAR that's surface rusted, and just some stuff thats been embedded into the paint, you can try to clay bar it?

I had some little specs of rust on my WW and I just clay'd the car this past weekend and they're all gone. I attribute this to the metal particles that were embedded (from road debris) into the paint rusting and not my actual car.
