How to turn off the service light

So it is like this...just get my evo 9 rs from a dealer, who just helped me serviced the car. However the service light went on the next day, though I flameout sometimes (still getting used to the heavy clutch), I dont think that is the cause. This car has almost 400HP, and the ECU is well written. So do u guys think going to the local mitsubishi dealer and let the technicians there turn of that service light is a good idea? I dont know if turning that light off has anything to do with the ECU, but if they change it accidentally I will be screwed. What should I do?

You need to see what the light is for before you even think of turning it off. It could be something small or something real bad.

Yes go to autozone and plug in an obdII scanner to read the code. Then put the code in the search bar above and go from there

So do u think the MITSUBISHI dealer can help me check the problem causing the light on without messing with the ECU?

They can but they might charge you. Autozone checks the light for free and google is free.

You can buy a new scanner for under $60. It is a good tool to have and will work on about any car made after 1996 with OBDII. Another way to turn off the light if you don't care what is says is to disconnect the battery for a minute.
