Thinking about a trade
only one thing i can say... take your time and youll not regret it !
for this trade.... the evo look like a "civic" its too sad to see it... and your stang is a real beast!!
my opinion is to part out the stang and get an evo in good shape w/o bodykit hehe

That evo looked clean to me, except for the crappy body kit. If you've known this guy since he bought the evo, then it could be a real good car. That evo could fetch $16-18k or so if it was truly unmolested.
I came from ModdedMustangs, I was previously the guy who obsessed over weight reduction and memorized all the differences between model years. I learned a lot there and they had a tight crew.
I had a 97 Cobra with a Teksid block and the 32 valve smooth DOHC motor. It took a single test drive of the Evo to realize I was trying to make my Mustang into a corner carver that it never could be.
Seriously, the Evo is a bit of a jump from a Mustang. People won't turn heads as much, older people beyond 40 tend to have no clue whatsoever that you are in anything worth more than 16 grand. Without removing the wing you will be harassed by cops too. If you have the Mustang to turn heads, you might not like the Evo. If you just want performance, look no further.
But, this is in every way a serious car. I've gone through winters with the Cobra and Evo and I'll tell you that there is just no comparison. My Evo on nearly bald grippy street tires *still* was lightyears better than snow tires on my Mustang. I used to hate rain and now I have more fun driving in the rain it seems. Nothing really beats the look on peoples faces when you roll into throttle without wheel spin on wet pavement. You basically can have fun whenever you want and outside of perfect conditions you can destroy cars that would normally give you a run for your money....
I like being able to tune the car without paying someone else. I'm a real geek and software developer so it's right up my alley. I've actually authored a map tracing tool in the EcuFlash forum here that recently was released in Beta. In the Mustang world you just bolt things on until you get a blower which finally requires a tune. The Evo you tune as you go or the power bolt ons do little to nothing.
You won't miss the stang after a week with the Evo. You can make it quite fast for way less money than the Stang. The handling is just icing on the cake. Coming from the V8, I just HAD to get a 5spd IX with MIVEC to at least have some power down low. I was surprised when it had *more* low end grunt than my 300ft/lb Cobra. Anything below 2000rpm is lackluster, but soon as you get above that it's comparable to the Cobra's grunt. I find I actually like the way the Evo delivers power by smoothly adding it as you go faster. It seems to gain traction by using horsepower instead of torque which keeps the wheels more in check.
The only thing I miss (ironically) is the wheel spin when just mashing it around a corner. But I never really did that more than a few times and there will always be more Mustangs. Crash testing and Emissions are killing the new Evos by making them too heavy and underpowered.

I agree with ^^^
Myself, I don't have experiences with mustangs as I've never owned one, but one of my long time neighbors has a 25th anniversary mustang, making mid-high 300s to the wheels, rollcage, high 11s at the strip. He's a gearhead so he'll work on the car himself, and knows it basically inside and out. I picked up my Evo, drove him around in it for a little bit and he thought, "Oh cool toy." He's in his 50s so he obviously didn't really get it. I let him drive it, and he was really impressed with it. I started explaining what you can do with the Evo, the versatility, ability to throw parts into it relatively easy, and the way you can DD it and still have it be a track star.
