Lost the keys to my car...=/

It's possible to start the evo with a normal key without the chip. I lost my keys before & after proving ownership, the dealer cut me a new key a gave me instructions how to tap in a code using the brake pedal. I drove the car back there to have them program me new key. No need to have the car towed.

not trying to be a dick, but how the hell did you lose your keys? let alone why did you only have one key for your car and not a spare one?
anyways back on topic the only way i see you geting a new one is working something out with your dealership, shop around though you might be able to get a better deal at another dealership. Hey you never know

I am not fimiliar with the fob for the evo being my car doesnt have one, but I know with my camaro you program the fob yourself. It is pretty easy but I don't know if it is the same but all you do is start the car with one key, shut it off put the new key in turn to the on position let the car reconize the chip turn it off, put the other key back in start the car, shut it off again, put other key in and turn to crank it it should program itself.

It's been about 7 years since I've had to do this, so my memory is pretty fuzzy. The code is unique to each car. Behind the glove box, there's some numbers somewhere that I think are next to a bar code. Dealers have instructions that decode these numbers to give the number of taps of the brake pedal before the car can be started.
