shiv

ps. nope, i didn't run the diffuser for the drag strip runs. We've been doing so much suspension/sway bar testing in the last two months that the diffuser was removed. It kept on getting in the way
We already ran 11.63 with the Dyno Flash before - and I feel its best suited for applications 450 whp and less

I have been experimenting with various plug n play stand alones to find one to recomend to clients shooting for 500 plus whp and so we will know how to tune them and be able to offer that as part of our service

I say Dyno Flashed - becuase i do the tuning

I don;t think my parts combinations are any secret here as i poast up almost everything I do

RMR was supposed to make a diffuser - I think it would be a good idea - expecially with the bumper beam removed that rear bumper cover is like a giant parashoot

I titled and worded the opening post in such a way that I thought it was obvious that the purpose and intent of it was to provide an area for those who wanted to express their interest to SCC. It lasted about 10 hours before MP5 felt the need to hijack the thread and turn it into another name calling contest. Thanks MP5.

I don't know any of you other than through this board. I'm a new Evo owner trying to decide who to trust my new car to for ECU tuning for now and other parts in the future. As a fellow business man I must say that I am *very* surprised that so many owners of active companies have chosen to participate in this manner. Interesting marketing guys, very interesting.

Thank you for your serious inquiry !

I want you to know that I take my professional obligations totally differntly than my debates with Shiv

After along day on the dyno - 8 hours today alone ! and then working on my car - another 5 hours

Its my way of winding down to kick back and have a nice debate with Shiv, Mp5 of any of the other vishnu cheerleaders

I mean no malice by my actions

First and foremost - I am a fellow Evo 8 owner and driver -

fellow Evolution.net poster and then

vendor

Rest assured - I treat every car I tune with total dedication, respect and 100% commitment to complete customer satisfaction

SCC replies

For those interested, here are the facts.

Fact one:

Al and I last spoke about the EVO shootout on Wednesday, December 19. Having spoken about the possibility of his invitation on one previous occasion, we discussed the fact that his car has been in several other publications and how this creates a compromise when it comes to featuring it in SCC. Magazines live and die by their sales numbers and featuring a car that's been seen before is never a wise idea. Thus, my hesitation to give him an immediate invitation.

However, I was admittedly intrigued by his proposal to drive across the country and his claim to make a ten-second pass in the same car. Al was told on the 19th that we should talk again on Friday, December 21 as this would give the staff a day to discuss his possible inlcusion and make a decision. He was invited to call back on that day. He never reached us. Knowing that we still had nearly seven weeks before the contest, I made no effort to contact him on December 21.

Fact two:

Shiv Pathak and Vishnu Tuning make no editorial decisions at SCC. Yes, Shiv has a closer relationship with the magazine than many tuners since he has in the past and occasionally still contributes tech stories to the magazine. However, his editorial contributions to SCC predate his proprietorship of Vishnu Tuning by four years. Unfortunately, this is occasionally perceived as a conflict of interest despite SCC's best efforts at full disclosure. Yes, Shiv is our friend. No, Shiv doesn't tell us who to invite to our tests.

What better way to establish neutrality than to have a tuner shootout and invite every tuner? We can't think of one, which is why we make huge efforts to invite a significant sample of the country's best tuners in all our tests.

Fact three:

Magazines have limited resources. It takes days of work to put together a test with even five cars. Doing it with ten or twelve is a disproportionately larger amount of work, not to mention a thankless pain in the *** at times.

These facts place unfortunate limits on how many cars we can test at once. Therefore, inviting everyone we'd like isn't always possible, which is why there's never been a comprehensive test of every tuner WRX or EVO in the country. We're attempting something we've never done before with this EVO test by inviting 13 tuners.

Fact four:

Al has not been invited or excluded from SCC's EVO test. His invitation was discussed among the staff and it was decided at the time he should be included. Al never contacted us or he would know this. Since then, Al's repeated attacks on SCC's credibility, his mudslinging and his general attitude have forced us to reconsider. We remain undecided.

Josh,
Thank you!

Al, you have some explaining to do. According to Josh, you never contacted them on 12/21, as invited. Well....? Are you calling Josh a liar?

Thank you for your input Josh. I'm sure we're all looking forward to reading the results of this shootout. Do you have an issue date for the article at this time?

Regards,

Yep. That's why I went with Works. Honestly, give David V a call, and talk to him for 15 minutes about Works and their tuning philosophy.

Works has had some of the most amazing customer service I have experienced from any company, and also has been a model of professionalism on the boards.

As for their products, I got a _ton_ of goodies put in which will make for an interesting review as soon as I get my car (with dyno sheets!) back from Works on Jan 5th. Hey, that's soon!
