Thinking about a change c5z06 to Evo
Been tossing around the idea of selling my c5z06 Head/Cam/Intake 450whp. I was thinking about trying something new. I have always had NA cars and was thinking of trying a turbo car this time. I have road in some hoped up STI's and EVO's before and while none of them were as fast as my car. They felt faster and quicker at least at lower speeds under 100. Also didn't have to worry about peddling it till 60-70 cause of traction issues.
So wondering if any one in here might have made a similar switch and how you felt about it in the end. This car would not stay stock for long if i get it.
Thanks for your responses.

Well I haven't made a similar switch, but I own both types of cars. I have a 400-450whp Chevelle and a totally stock Evo IX. As you can imagine the cars are not really very similar, but they will certainly both put a smile on your face. The Chevelle will crush the Evo in a straight line but the Evo will smack it around everywhere else. I don't really think you would miss the Vette that much, as you can easily make more than enough power for straight line fun. I know what you mean about having no traction until highway speed and none of those issues in the Evo. The only time you might miss the Vette is in the looks department. The Evo is a good looking 4 door, but its no Vette. Otherwise the Evo can do pretty much whatever you want it to do, as long as you have the money.
I went from a supercharged C5 that was putting down quite a bit more power than your car and I don't miss it at all. My evo as it sits with less than $1500 in mods slowly pulls away from stock C6s from a roll (from about 40 to about 110mph) and eats them pretty good from a dig. I'm pretty confident with an E85 setup which would be roughly $600 bucks including the tune I could give your Z a run for its money from a dig.

As much as i love Evo's there is no way with 1500 bucks you can beat a c6 from a roll. Your deff not taking me even from a dig. Not trying to upset anyone here. But thats unrealistic.

Ill be checking out an 06 SSL I think the black and swede interior? Has been done up with the stock turbo makes 410 on E85 an like 330 on pump. Looks nice done by RRE here in Socal and have coilovers and what not.

But what do I know, I have only owned a way more modified C5 than you and I now own an Evo lol.
I didnt say an evo beating a c6 was unrealistic but for 1500 it is. that like an exhaust and a tune. My buddy had a turbo back and a tune in his evo made 322whp and was fast kept up with my buddies 05 cts-v but not a c6 vette or my stock at the time c5z06 from a 40 roll. Not even close.
Lol, yep you're right, has never happened. My car on a very low reading mustang dyno put down 340 whp and 390 wtq with a downpipe, fuel pump, manual boost controler and tune. Now that I think about it I'm well under 1500 bucks lol. If I go E85 we are talking over 400 whp, I'm positive on the street I would whoop your C5Zs *** from a dig into the low 100mph range.

Not trying to make any one mad and no I don't think vettes are the fastest thing ever. Just going off of first hand experiences with evos with bolt ons. No big deal looks like you made really good power with minimal mods thats a good thing! I have ran a couple back in my bolt on days that where in the 350 range.
You would be surprised how cheap and easy it is to get an evo above your C5Zs whp.
Forgot to mention I pull decently on stock C5Zs from a roll. Maybe its the altitude, doubt if you want but I have 0 reason to lie.
