smoking catch can?
1.) who ever built the enginge has to messure the ring caps ondoes pistonrings and have the right clearnce , acording to the right specs , some time they will have to be grinded down some tens on and ince , its verry crusial that that is right ,made ,
2.) when you build a motor you need to check the clearings on the crank berings whit , plastric surge , verrry important you have the right clearings , ashow imoprtent whit the rod berings to mesure that right ,
3.) has the head been re torqued ? .
4.) how did you break it in , what oil did you use during that ,
it does take time breaking it in on the dyno , some miles ,
after that you have to recheck the that all is okej ,
IMPORTANT !!
_______________
when runing a catch can for the oil ,, you must ALWAYS HAVE the CAN CONNEDED TO VACUM ,
sucktions side of the turbo ,
so that you have " underpressure " = vacum .
attach on line vacum , and the other from the rocker cover of the enginge
Ealse you will blow the rocket cover gasket , and the side gaseket on the craktshaft , make it leek oil on the timing belt ,of yours ,
this happend to me once beace i did as you did , whit the catch can connections , and it went badly wrong ,
when fire up a cold enginge you have about 7 bars af oil pressure ,
and when the enginge is hot , and you load the enginge 7000 rpm the have the same about , where do you think will happend , if you are unlucky ,
running vacum fom the turbo sucktions side to the catch can , will make it pretty mutch safer
there is a good reson why the desin is like that from the begining , just have the chatch betwen , and it will be all good , as well check the rest i said ,
5) do a leak down test !
Im 100% shure you will solv this problem if folowing my instructions

so i have a build 2 liter running fp black and its losing oil all the time.
i noticed the other day that my catch can thats attached to back of the valve cover and on the side is smoking.
in another words, oil was burning inside the catch can.
is this normal? am i getting excess loss of oil? i do go through a quart of oil about every 5th gas fill up

I experience the same thing you are stating. After I come in from the track I typically get some white smoke coming out of my catch can. Same thing happens if I take my oil cap off. The smoke is coming from the engine. I typically burn about .25 quart after two 25 minute track sessions.
A quart every 5 fill ups isn't bad for a built motor assuming you have a slightly heavy foot, esp with 32lbs. Is your catch can merely smoking or did you drain it and find a lot of oil in there?
If you drain it to find a little peanut butter-liquid looking fluid, that's normal and you can ignore all the panic responses above.
