Built Motor Oil Consumption?

Hey all,
After skimming the forums for a bit I am not really getting a definate answer so here it goes.

How much oil consumption is normal in a new built 2.0 long rod 9.5 to 1 and running pump gas?

No smoke, normal driving conditions, nothing in the catch can.

I'd suggest that one quart in 500 miles is the very bottom of acceptable.

in my experience, on my built 2.0LR on e85, after about 1500miles the oil level is in between the two notches. I havent ran my car on pump yet

"New" built engines will consume oil. It is normal to burn oil during break in period. I've seen some lose a quart in 100 miles and other almost none at all.
I usually build engines tighter than what is "common practice" cause I don't like the idea of catch cans and constantly being concerned with the oil level.
My last engine stopped consuming oil at around 400 miles. No measurable consumption.
On the other hand, normal is going to depend on many variables but for DD with a wot pull here and there I would expect to see a quart in 1k miles with "recommended" clearances on valve guides, rings, PtW.

My built 2.0 10.5:1 E85 motor will consume about .25-.50qt every oil change. I fill to the top line on the dip stick, and during the 2500-3000 miles it will at the most make its way to the middle of the two notches.

Catch can never has any oil in it, only clear liquid. My car made 700whp at 32psi on E85. I have not had pump gas in the car.

The biggest thing when building a motor is to make sure everything is sealed up correctly. My oil pan had a leak on it, so I pulled it right away and fixed it. I also had my turbo oil return line fitting warp(I did not machine it thick enough ), and that caused an oil leak. Once those were sorted out no more oil issues, and consumption is as stated above.

In my situation, I needed more ventilation to relieve crank case pressure. Burning of oil stopped. Currently have a rag taped on the top instead of my oil cap....
