This is damn important information for those of us who are considering cams for a daily driver, it's a shame that it doesn't generally get raised in the numerous threads discussing which are "the best" cams.

Thank you guys for bringing this up.

The idle is all in the tune.

That's mine with S2s after I got them installed and tuned. Really not bad at all. Some MIVEC witchcraft may have helped smooth the idle out but that's about as rough as mine gets. Sometimes I wish they loped more haha

raise idle, add more timing.. wont vibrate. my personal car doesn't vibrate and its a full race engine with no balance shafts and kelford 272.. which idle far rougher then any gsc cam.

also maybe they have the balance shaft 180deg out? i hope not.. but depending how bad the vibration is that's definitely a possibility

The problem you will find is that you almost always have to learn from your own mistakes.

It's very common for people to post the positive results from modifications, but they seem to forget the negatives. I don't know if it's because people don't like to admit that by gaining something they are sacrificing something else.

With that being said I did want to comment that my previous post was a bit off. My car was not driving too smooth when driving slow and I attributed this to the S2's, I could have been wrong. Anyway I had my tune adjusted over this past weekend and that issue is now gone.

The car may vibrate here and there, but it happens rarely. I can honestly say it doesn't happen enough for me to regret going with the S2's. I'm now happy with them. And if I do happen to feel that vibration from time to time it's just the cams telling me they are ready to go.

My car doesn't VIBRATE much anymore with the S2s... but the cams do lope a lot. And when the car is in the garage it shakes the whole house I remember when I first got my car I loved the smooth idle, and refused to get cams because I didn't want the lope. I actually like the lope now... and people who know anything about cars say my cams sound badass.

It's always the oblivious people who say "your car sounds like its about to die..."

s2's. I wish. I have the GSC 272's and when its running like garbage it is nice and lopy (I friggen love bad running days.. haha) My idle is set around 1100 and its smooth but i'm wanting bad to get it tuned back down and get that nice idle back. Love it and don't touch it!
