OEM Paint Job

Hey guys whats up, i have a question that you guys have prob read/seen/heard a thousand times but tried to fine an answer and came back with a wide variety of prices. Now the question is: How much would it cost to strip the evo down , have it primered and painted OEM quality wicked white (it is BBY as it sits right now). Now the engine bay, side jams...etc (all the little inside parts) i want kept BBY. So im only looking at the main body. And i live in California (central Valley). Thanks for all teh help and i know i should go get a professional quote but the reason is.....i havnt exactly bought the evo yet...just one that im looking at. (i like the color for now but eventually want to go white and the price on this is pretty good i think so i dont want it to pass by).

Keep it BBY would be my suggestion. I would think it would be worth less if you paint it and do it half-assed leaving all the jams and what not blue. Plus BBY is an awesome color. It's way better in person than in pictures.

If you're looking for a real number it's going to vary from area to area and shop to shop. I would guess between $3k and $5k to do it the right way. I just paid $800 for just the front bumper and hood on my 9.

Going rate is about $150-200/panel if you just repaint a panel or two (fender, hood, door, etc.)

Whole repaint I got quoted about $2500-4500. Depending on the shop and paint. Color changes suck, especially if it's a complete car still, if it's a rolling shell many places will do it for about $1500-$3000.

Again like I said though it depends on the area and the shop. I just paid almost $400 a panel myself.

Totally get what you are saying, and it does kind of depend on location.

Between MI, OH, FL, TX those are the prices I have generally seen.

But.... there are the crazy shops that will want between $400-900/panel and I just stay away from those personally.

With paint you tend to get what you pay for. Some people are overprices for sure, but if there is a general price that a lot of quality places are near then that more than likely will be the price you will pay for a quality job. My suggestion is to worry less about the price and more about the reputation of the shop. Shop around the area and see what people would charge. Then take those shops that you called and try to get feedback, reviews or whatever you can find from other people who have gone there. At that point you should have enough information to make a well informed decision.
