Amen to that. The price is really not too bad, especially considering how much longer it will possibly last.
The only reason I didn't go with a FP turbo is because of all the failures I hear about, and poor CS to back it up.
My next turbo will probably be one of these, and probably wont have to worry about CS with the new design.

The only failures that you heard about were thrust bearing related, generally with folks who loved boosting their turbos past the RPM range that any journal bearing turbo is mechanically capable of running, or when they were being oiled from the head, where the oil pressure fluctuated enough to cause problems. The oiling issue was solved with the line from the filter, which gave a source for constant high pressure oiling. Read how to keep a journal bearing turbo happy here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...robert-fp.html
I've got a few friends who freely admitted that they were having much too good a time with theirs, but FP fixed most of them, too. With any HP part, you should know that you have to pay to play. That's why race teams replace these kinds of parts after just a few hours of use. When you run them past the ragged edge, it's just common sense.
The new ceramic BB centers have their engineering ceiling, too, I suppose, but it might be a little harder to find

If you use one of their new BB turbo's you have to use the new oil filter / inline restrictor. It's a much smaller diameter hole than the older housing. This is due to the fact BB turbo's require less oil and need to have an inline restrictor.

$2500 goes into the new BB Center Cartridge, it is a brand new design and is patented. The JB's work almost as well but as you know require more oil for lubrication. As far as spool-up a BB won't spool any faster or extremely close. In between shifts it is better, better transient response but nothing mind bending. The main benefit is the less oil it needs.
I just sent my JB FP RED to get rebuilt last week and decided to sell it and go bigger if anyone wants it. All new so it is considerably less then the $2,500 option.

How do you figure drug companies are crooks?
apparently you have no understanding of economics and the way the world works, turbo pricing aside.
bottom line, if no one put in the R+D on a product, 99.9% of the items in your house would not exist, including almost all of the food in your fridge.
difference being, all the things you see around you in your house have an extremely larger market to offset the cost of the R+D, a much larger market than the amount of evo owners buying stock frame turbos. thats why a PTE turbo cost less also, being universal they have a larger market than FP.
a company has to make there investment in R+D back, because if no one did, none of these products would exist...therefore based on your logic you should just stop buying any aftermarket parts for your car...as well as any other mass produced product.
/end rant after bad night at work
dont go there lol i work in the drug world...drug companies are flat out crooks, but thats another thread!

Unless there's a competitor selling the same product cheaper, with a reputation that is tried and true like FP, I don't see any reason as to why he should lower the price.
i still dont see the point in getting this if you already have the older version. now if you blow yours then get the bb verion but im not gonna pull my turbo out pay 1300 then i have to pay somebody to install it thats like another 250 plus a oil change on top of that no telling how long the down time will be. So if you dont have a second car then thats even more money
