Best Cams 2.4 High Hp set up??

So I looked around and couldnt find the info I was looking for. I have a 2.4, hta 3586 full spool at 4500. All supporting mods with kelford 272's. On e85.

I know this motor flows more air so I know my cams are pretty mild for my set up, wondering what cams would give me the largest gains without a change in spoolup. I was thinking the s3's.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

S3's ftw. FP5R's are another consideration and Im 99% sure are actually even a little bit bigger than S3's are, but, with that in mind, youd likely lose a little spool up.

thats kind of what I was thinking. I have heard good things about the s3's as far as not much loss in spool up. What kind of gains would I be looking at over the current kelford 272's?

I have the gsc S3 cams on my built 2.0 and went from the kelford 272, the cams are pretty lopi, the only other cams I'd be curious about would be the Tomei 280's

STM 650 Cams would probly be a better choice.

If you have a IX i don't think that STM cams work....i think they are only for the VIII. S3's for the win. Had the Kelfords before.

He has an 8. The STM 650's are good for high HP set ups. Thats most likely what im going with for my 2.4LR.

what are you revving your 2.4L engine out to? If you aren't revving very high, I think it would be a waste to get a really big cam which would only benefit you at higher rpms.

right now 4500 to 8500 I love the powerband of this set up. I do not want to lose the powerband for a little more peak hp numbers.

I was going to say the Tomeis, but I erased it cause theyre a little smaller than the S3's are.

I love the kelfords for what they are. I think mikey had something similar to the s3 and had great results. kelford 280's? Not many set ups like mine its hard to find a good comparison.

If you love the 4500-8500 power band, then you might want to stay away from the larger drag race cams like the S3. I've had a lot of success with cams in the range of S2 or FP4R for 2.4L setups. Sounds like you would want something in the range of .440"-.450" lift and 220-230 degrees duration @ 1mm.
