That would suck the fattie

Well I'm getting my evo whether it is an 03 or 04 so they better be there in april / may!

Not the 04's. Plus, with the way these things are selling, I don't think you'll ever be seeing an evo 9 in the states.

I do not get it either.
All I am looking at is resale value.
So make it 04 or put discount on 03.
They do not even tell us when 04 will be available. Something smells fishy.

Here is my new theory. They are doing one of two things.

1. contemplating pulling the evo from the us lineup.

2. waiting for the specs on the 05 sti to be announced, then one up them.

im picking up my evo tommorow....i too was hung up on 04 vs 03..i was afraid they would make drastic changes from one year to the next...i believe u will be able to get lsd for 04 at least...
i dont care about warranty, as mine will be modded, so that was not a considration...i drove the car and loved it...a lot of character. strong after market support. drove an sti, likred that a lot too. probably better overall in stock form. but again, either way its not staying stock. i think modded the evo will rock. and i felt it handled a little sharper...most of all it has character that the sti lacks...sti felt almost too smooth and polished.
the dealer just got 2 in off the truck...i was looking for one without sunroof and got a silver one with the wing. im paying 28207....they wanted 29 for sunroof and winged...so at 28.2, im happy with the deal.....i already have about 5k worth of stuff coming from buscher!!!

Didn't waste any time did ya

BTW, am I the only one who though the sti felt rough and unpolished compared to the evo? The motor is choppy and sounds like a harley, and everything you touch feels like crap. 1st gear is WAY too far to the right, and the shifter felt like it was going to snap off in my hand.

the motor does "feel" choppy definately in the first two gears...i believe that is because of the short gear ratios though more than the engine itself....
and no.....i wasted no time..

I have heard from many people the grinding or choppiness (is that a word?) between the first two gears only happened until the car was broken in. I heard the shift sweet as butta after that

Just a note on the 04 100,000mile/10 year warranty. There's a Healy Mitsubishi ad in my local paper today. Mentions the warranty on all 04 Mitsubishi's with an asterisk - "Excludes Evolution"
Then again it's all academic since they don't have any 04's yet anyway.

Bluevilevo8-
#1 I would probably not agree with pulling the evo from US. They can always decrease production and sell it in lower volume.
#2- is subaru changing anything?

To be honest-I do not know what to think.
If they have so many 03's(do they?) put the money on it and push them.
Last thing I want them to do is wait and start selling 04's in"JUNE".
Then I will start worring that they will do what BMW did with 3series coupe(that is what I drive) in 2002 - they made it a short 6 month year.
Again resale suffers, and I do not want to loose more money on resale- we all know with mitsu it sucks already.
Maybe they should just skip 04 and put 05 on cars that are being produced now.
Damn I wish I had gotten a car like 6 months ago and not go through all this.

Go for it! There are too many '03s on the dealer's lots.

Do a search on the Mitsubishi web site for EVO's in dealer's inventory.

When you find what is acceptable to you, e-mail the dealership asking for their lowest price, period! Let them know you are serious and that you are shopping around for the best price.
The dealer knows he will in all likelyhood have only one shot at you.

Don't fell sorry for the dealer, he will consider that you are doing him a favor by making a slow moving vehicle go away, especially at this time of the year.

Also be aware that Mitsubishi as well as other manufacturers offer their dealers incentive programs that are kept under wraps.
For example, this past October, Mitsubishi dealers were paid $1000.00 by Mitsubishi for each EVO sold, this was decreased to $500.00 in November and discontinued in December. Of course any current Mitsubishi owner was entitled to the $1,000.00 loyalty rebate on the purchase of an EVO between 12/03/03 and 01/05/04. Are there any incentive programs now? Not advertised! Under the table between Mitsubishi and it's dealers, very possible. Be aware that some of these incentive programs are regional and may not apply nationally.

I bought my EVO on 12/15/03 taking advantage of the loyalty rebate thanks to owning 2 registered Galant VR-4s . No, they would fall for doubling the rebate .

Good luck whatever you decide to do .

When ppl are saying taking the EVO away from the lineup, they just mean the US right? Not in every country right? (Like any Euro/Asian Countries for example)

Well, were just speculating as to why Mitsu refuses to acknowledge the year 2004. But yes, that is what I am saying. Mitsu is in a world of hurt right now financially, and my guess is they are "reassessing" their position involving evos in the US.

Hopefully in their reassessing they'll get a clue and offer cruise control on the GSR and match thre STi's 6speed and one up them with a Sequential Manual Transmission.. The RS is a great step in options, the Urban Jungle helps to bridge the RS and the GSR, and with a few options to variants above the GSR.. THey'd have a killer upper lineup.

Throw in an automatic option and you'd have a sweet list to pick from. To almost appease everyone.

It'd be nice to mark off some things on an Order Form

(X) Big Wing
(X) Sunroof
(X) Front LSD
(X) Cruise Control
(X) MR Performance Upgrades

( ) 5 Speed
(X) 6 Speed
(X) Sequential Manual Transmission
( ) Automatic Transmission

( )Lightening Yellow
( )Blue By You
( )Apex Silver
( )Midnight Black
( )Winning White
( )Rally Red
( )Emerald Green
(X)Metalic Grey
