Call me nuts, but I don't see how they can bring that car here. It would cost them too much in r&d to figure out how to pump out that kind of power with the 4g on our crap gas and still meet even tighter emissions regulations. Not gonna happen... unless they give us a 2.4...

In another year they will just pull the Evo from our market because basically americans are too ignorant of how to drive such a car without destroying it.

Agree with this statement, but actually I think the bigger R&D would be in trying to figure out how to make the drivetrain live when hicks from kentucky try to dump the clutch on a 4WD car. I can tell you that right now Mitsu has been totally surprised by the warranty claims (and attempts to claim warranty) on parts that have been fine in every other country.

Hmm...are you saying the synthetic prevents proper seating of the rings? and this leads to the consumption. Sounds logical, but I must have missed the threads discussing that.

Every engine builder, Shiv, Al, and many members reccomend dino oil on break in for said reasons.
Everyone elses response is "I trust the mitsu engineers". (probably just the people who broke it in on synthetic and are secretely repressing their anger)

admittedly, the following may be a bit off-topic, but for those of you "waiting" to buy your Evo, you may as well wait for THIS:
http://www.evo.co.uk/?driven/driven_story.php?id=42972
if THIS comes stateside, I may have 2 Evo's in the garage...

The 330 is 30k in british pounds, which is about 58k in USD
Just goes to show you how lucky we truly are to get the car so cheap.

the Brit prices also include the V.A.T. (value added tax) and other cost penalties that don't apply here...I'd bet the 330 could be brought stateside for around $32K to $34K, but that's just a guess...
I've looked at prices on a lot of new cars sold both in Britain and the U.S., and they are quite regularly 40% or more higher in Britain (even after accounting for the exchange rate)
a lot depends on what happens with the dollar as well...if it keeps dropping against foreign currencies (and particularly against the yen), it will eventually make all foreign cars more expensive
so, yer right, really....if you've already got your 8, and didn't pay an "early-adopter" premium last spring/summer for the privilege, yer probably sitting pretty right about now
