5 minutes ago I was reading a Road & Track article about the best 2004 car award. There are 5 cars left to pick from (no evo, but yes Sti)
The reason-"Every car must be all-new for 2004 or have significant upgrades. It must carry a model-year 2004 designation"
I guess because Evo is designated 03 it is not going to win 2004 award. What a difference one number makes.

Just so you know Mitsu lost 25% sales last year.
Kia I think lost 32%- I am not sure though,
and Isuzu lost 43%.

There are no factory incentives on the 03, that is not a sign that the dealers are over stocked. On the other side, if the 03s don't move it makes no economic sense to develop another version for a market that doen't exist. Remember how "bad ***" this car really is. Get one while you can, you are missing more drivng fun that you can possibly imagine.

I know it is stupid, but i have this thing about production year cars... as in i don't buy them. I would just feel better about an 04 in my garage. Don't get me wrong, i'm not one of those people that think the evo has all these problems. I have just seen all the track records for 1st production year cars that have problems (even if they are small ones) and just think it might be better to wait for the 04. Besides have they even been out a year yet? The most mileage i saw was 36k. I mean if the right deal falls in my lap, i'll probably have to get over my little pet peeve of 1st production year cars, but until then i think i'll just stick it out. Plus It never hurts to have more for a down payment and i need a beater and i just got my first credit cards last month (because the credit companies screwed up my files) so i could use this time to build up some credit. Take it as you will... just my 2 cents...more of a rant i guess...
man, they've been producing the Evo for many years now...it's only "new" in the U.S. (and Australia, but that's another story....)

in fact, if anything, the U.S. model is simpler than the R.O.W. model, because it has the "older" 5-speed transmission and doesn't have the active center diff or AYC.....

should be no "first year blues" here!

and just fyi, ours has been faultless so far

The decreasing value of the dollar can't be good for all foreign goods as well. As the US goes deeper in dept and without any solid plan to stopping whithering away financially, imports are going to have less ability to offer deals.

Bluevilevo8 our speculation is over.
We will start a new one tomorrow.
I just got an e-mail from Mitsu about info on 04 and more...
I contacted them a couple of days ago asking about 04's and they e-mailed me back. I am surprised they did.
I do not want to be an ***, but I will tell you guys tomorrow.
God it feels good to be the first one to know.
Mitsu dealer would never tell you that.
Only time will tell if it was true.
It was good I waited-I guess.

The new warranty is now standard on all Mitsubishi Motors products sold in the United States, starting with the 2004 model year. This includes coverage for the high-performance Lancer Evolution, winner of Automobile Magazine's "Automobile of the Year" for 2004 and the Sport Compact Car Magazine's 2004 "Car of the Year."..."

wow!....I was wondering if they might do that...

I guess if you haven't already bought, you're in good shape...and if you have (like us), you can always sell when the warranty's about to be up and get a new one!

and if the FQ gets stateside, we'll end up with one of those anyway!

I guess you really want to know.
God it felt good.

Let me start from saying that it was not a customer service at Mitsu that gave me that info.
Just this week I was reading a Mitsu article on the net and there was an e-mail address to someone within a company. I gave it a try.

Thanks for your interest in Mitsubishi Evolution. To answer your question, a small shipment of 2004 Model year Evo's are scheduled to ship in March 2004. They should begin to arrive in dealers in April. As an FYI, the 2005 Evo is scheduled for August 2004.
Thanks again in your interest.
Happy Motoring.
xxxx
xxxxx, xxxxxx

So there you have it.
I am pissed now.
I think I will have to live without one for at least 8-9 months.
If I was to buy one now- within a coupe of months I would loose 2 model years.
Anybody has an Evo for rent???????
I have a feling 05 will have some changes. Evo 9 ????
Did I say I am pissed.

Wow. Thanks for the info man. Guess it won't be very easy to get your hands on an 04. Oh, and as far as you being pissed at having to wait for an 05, just remember, there will ALWAYS be something else "just around the corner". By the time the 05 is here, there will be talk about how the 06 is coming. It's only a car, afterall. Don't drive yourself nuts.

This is really good news IMO. I have been just saving up and waiting and watching. Scheduled for an April/May purchase, but If I need to add an extra 120-150 days to that and save up another $4-5k from originally planned. THis ROCKS! I'm really looking forward to the next 6 months now, to see what unfolds!

a 2005 Evo MR in August/Septmember... only 7 - 8 months away. ahhhhh.
