Swapping seats

Probably a dumb question here but ive got my flame suit on so here goes, is it possible to switch the driver and passenger seat in an Evo 8? I'm getting the normal wear and would like to lengthen the life of my seats if at all possible. Thanks for an advice.

Yes it's possible, but it will require some work.

Here are some issues:

1) The seat adjustment knob will be on the wrong side
2) The spot where you clip the seat belt into will be on the wrong side

You will have to not only swap the seats, but the mounting brackets as well.

You might be able to use this as a rough guide:

I know I saw a thread on here with pics. Apparently there is a rod that goes through the seats regarding either the seat belts or the lumbar support. Cant remember which.

I will tell you this, you'll need allen head sockets and a heat gun. The Allen head bolts that hold the bracket to the seats have loctite or something on them, and you'll strip out the bolt head if you don't heat them up first. Ask me how I know, lol.

Personally I'd try swapping only the cloth. Shouldn't be too expensive at an upholstery shop
