Go speed density, have a tuner tune around it a little bit to smooth things out, learn to live with giving it a little throttle now and then, or get a new bov.
It is a good product and it holds boost (personally i dont like it). The problem is that it does not work well when vented to atmosphere when the car requires the bov to vent back into the intake. Hence all the driveability issues.

I don't really have any driveability issues tho. It seems to effect some evos more then others. I've had one on my car for 3 years with it VTA and i've only stalled once when I was WOT and then had to pull it out of gear and slam on the brakes.

my 2005 came with the HKS VTA, I never stalled but coming down from high rpms, it would bog down pretty good. Down shifting helped a little? it also fluttered at low boost.

One question I do have is if im driving at anything above 3k rpm, and I come off the gas a tiny bit, it blows off, and starts bucking, Its very 'all or nothing' feeling. Is that a problem with it holding boost? I always just shift up a gear then come off the gas. Eventually Id like to switch it up (im looking at Tial Q). But for now I guess ill live with it.

Ehh even on the stock IX DV my car bucks badly if I'm not smooth when I let off the throttle in the lower gears. I think getting stiffer motor mounts helps a lot in that regard.

Heh, my car had a HKS UICP/SSQV on it when I bought it and it has since been replaced with ETS/TiAL.

But, I run SD and no MAF so there's no need to recirc.

its venting to atmospehre which causes your maf readings to be wrong.

Ya that's why we said if you want to keep it and have your car run perfectly fine you need to go to speed density.

I'm guessing the problem occurs when you are in boost even a couple pounds. The. Get out of the gas and pull the clutch in. What happens is the turbo throws air through the Maf the wrong way. This was a issue on a buddy's hellion cobra and the only solution was speed density.

?

Ok I have an HKS (P.O.S. on evos) and I am looking to buy a 9 bov for these reasons: On partial acceleration in the last 3 gears I get a wicked fluttering/chugging and have heard others with the same issue. Also without a recirc you car isnt getting the air it thinks its getting after shifts thats why your rpms drop down cause it runs an Air/fuel mix that expects air and doesnt get it. APS, Tials, and 9 bovs all cure this problem an make for a much smoother ride.

I have two questions tho.
What is speed density? (stupid question)
Anyone want to sell a nice IX bov?

Speed density gets rid of maf and uses a map sensor to use pressure as a reference instead of air flowing past the maf

either get the IX bov or a forge rs is okay but evo's dont like rice bov's. they are known to not work well with the SSQV drivability is garbage for most people that use them from what i hear.
