HKS SSQV Problem
HKS SSQV Problem
So I just installed my newly acquired SSQV. I am 100% certain I have done everything right... but as the revs come down the car tries to stall, and a blip of the throttle is required. I've rechecked my hose clamps and pipes but still have the same problem.
It was running fine when I had the stock recirculating valve in there...
Any ideas...?

as long as the car doesnt die then its normal. either get the recirc kit or just learn to deal with it. if you let off of the gas before you push in the clutch then the rpms wont drop. try that.
If you like your cars running like that then i guess its "normal".
If you want to fix it, put the stock bov back on or convert to speed density. Even with the recirc it will still run wrong.

No, it's not recirculating. I was thinking maybe the recirc kit would help, but turbotalawd says otherwise... I really don't see what the issue is though... Unless the valve is staying open too long, maybe that's it?

After more driving and experimenting with different level and throttle, I am actually getting slight surging (flutter). Aren't BOVs meant to prevent that from happening. Don't get me wrong, it sounds pretty cool, buuuuuut I bought it so fluttering didn't happen...
There's your problem. Evo's are supposed to use DV's as with a VTA setup the engine loses air that was calculated by the MAF. There are supposed to be ways to tune around it but I'm not familiar with the process. Going back to recirc is your best bet IMO.
Go back to stock or get a IX BOV.
Agree with above. Go back to a stock 9 DV . No real need to change it out unless you just want the sound. If that is what you want better options exist.

Heres a good solution:
Step 1: Uninstall HKS BOV
Step 2: Take said valve and smash it into the ground as hard as you can. If that does not work, I always enjoy fire.
Step 3: Go stock 9 DV crushed or otherwise, APS or similar, or Tial/Speed Density.
Step 4: Re-think buying an evo, and if you decide your worthy, stop buying crappy part that give you crappy results which results in crappy questions.
Alternative: Instead of smashing you can find the sickest, lowest, wides wheeled jetta 1.8T and sell it to him for 1,000,000,000 dollars by telling him anyone whos anyone in the hellaflush scene has this....
