different screen to protect intercooler
How about one that rolls up on a spool, you know like a roll of film. It'd have to run in a track down both sides a la a garage door, with a semi-stiff frame. It would just take a little electric motor on one end of the axle to roll it up/down. Then you wouldnt have to worry about much space for it when it's in the free-flow position.
I'll probably cover mine when I finally get one...just to keep all of the damn bugs off of it.

FYI, a reduction of airflow over an IC does not necessarily mean less cooling efficieny. Air flow over the extrior of the IC is not the only factor in the cooling efficiency. The IC may still be getting enough airflow to work at peak efficieny even with reduced air flow. Surface area, internal flow, etc., all goes into the equasion.
I suggest that you follow up on your original idea of doing the Gtec runs with and without the screen and get back to us. You may also want to stick in a temp probe before the TB to see if you read any intake temp diffs with and without the screen.
