Question Car is boosting low

Hope fully I'm not going to get flammed for not searching because I did and could find what I was looking for.

Anywho.

I was getting a really low reading off my boost gauge so I swapped it for a VERY expensive gauge and it was also only reading 0.5 bar of boost. As far as am aware the car should be doing almost double that.

I drive a Evolution 6 like my sig says

I havent got around to checking I/C pipes and all other turbo related rubber bits yet but is there any other things I should look at/try?

I will also do a reset of the ECU (so i will look for the best way to do that online).

I don't have a tactrix cable so I can't look into it that way.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was also asking for things that I CAN check. As I want to be able to as much as possible in one go.

Thanks anyway

Checked both the Intercooler pipes last night and pulled myself under the car.
Both the pipes and the meshy curve felt fine. I only really noticed abit of rust in the join between the down pipe and the start of the exhaust (I think that's what it is).

My friend helping me noticed he could hear a hissing sound coming from around the wastegate area, I myself didn't hear it. Could this be a problem? I also checked all the pipes/tubes on the wastegate and they were on good and didnt move around at all.

Cheers

if u checked the obvious, then now do an actual boost leak test. If there is a hissing sound from the wastegate area, the wastegate could be stuck open..

I'm no mechanic and this is my first turbo'ed car. I'm still learning.
I appreciate the help but I don't need the attitude.

There is no MBC on the car.

I'm looking for a guide to check the wastegate at the moment.

You need to find a good tuner, first. Then you need to make friends with some Evo owners in your area, atleast ones that know their way around the engine bay.
I was in a similar situation and it takes time to find the right crowd. Good luck!

Looks like my wastegate may be stuck open, from what i've found on Google.

So I'm going to WD-40 the **** out of it when I get home and let it sit over night.

Fingers crossed this fixes the problem

I may be able to help you if your problem is wastegate related. But, I'd best warn you in advance that I do have some serious attitudinal issues.
