Where are these sub-$28K dealers?????????

I've been shopping for a new Evo. Found a dealer by me selling one w/ spoiler and sun roof - probably could have got it for 29K and change. Started a thread a few days ago which led to many arguments between other posters over what true invoive price was etc.

Anyway, many of you claim Evo's are going for 28K and even less. So tell me - where are these dealers? Give me a name and the salesperson you dealt with. Any in the Tri-state area around NYC?

All this theoretical talk is fine but someone give me the name of what dealer you bought a new Evo from for 28K or less.

Today I offered the dealership here 28K. Told them I was willing to show up w/ a check tonight. Got a real condescending attitude from the sales mgr. "Didn't I tell you I wouldn't take less than invoice? I gotta pay for all these nice comfortable chairs you sit in when you come here..." What an *******.

I asked him to propose another number and he said MSRP. This was after saying he wanted an offer above invoice (28,965 he says), which I interpreted as something in the low 29's

Fortunately I got a customer service call tonight from the dealership asking how I enjoyed my recent visit. So I told them.

Anyway, if this is any indication, I'm not so sure I even want to deal w/ Mitsu anymore. I went to BMW dealership to test drive a 325xi and they acted a lot more professionally. Besides, I can get free maintainence over the course of the lease. Sure I won't go as fast, but I'll save $ on tickets and they can actually give a coherent answer about how good the car is in snow.

In any case, those of you who so knowingly talk about under-28K Evos -give me a name!!! PM me if you like.
Thanks

If you listen to all the bs posts on this board you'd think you can get the evo for 26 otd

On a serious note, WITHOUT the loyalty rebate, the cheapest they really go for (with no miles!!) is 27.5. Even that is a rarity. If anyone tells you differently, there's a catch. It should be funny watching this thread, as you will get maybe 3 referrals, when if you had just asked who got theirs for under 28k, 500 people would jump in

Invoice and MSRP are not the same thing. MSRP is 28,987 and invoice is 26,891. With the Sunroof and Big wing, those numbers are 30,812 and 28,557.

$29K would be a reasonable offer. The people claiming $27,500 OTD are either getting the closed roof/small wing version, or finding a dealer who wants the car off their lot ASAP.

I just got a call from the salesperson. Probably playing the good cop/bad cop routine. He said they would go for $500 above invoice which would be about 29,400. The car does have 19 miles on it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

At this point I could look around for another deal but I don't think it would make a huge difference. I got 2 Pms from out of state which were very helpful. But the extra time and effort to get the cars would not be cost-effective in the end.

For the record I hope others have the lack of posts on this thread very instructive. Those who threw around sub-28K prices have been strangely silent when asked to name a dealer.

thanks to all who offered advice. This is a great site.

I paid $28,611 (invoice was 28311 I think) for mine before tax and title this is with the wing but no sunroof. The best offer I got on this same car was $27,899 from Capital Mitsubishi in CA. I got mine a month ago and I did not find anyone lower then that.

I got a sub 28k evo

I bought a new EVO from my local dealer with the carbon wing, and sunroof for 27350. They had a black and red and I wanted a silver. I argued and took the black but made them come down to 27350. I wanted for 450 monthly payments. They came down to 459 and a selling price of 27350. I think they had to cut out my sales persons commision to get to that price. Oh, yeh I traded my '98 Chevy C1500 extended cab FYI. They are out there. There are 2 in New Orleans that have been on the lot for 6 months +. Bet they'd go cheap too.

Volunteer- can back me on this, he got his with 8k miles for 23,xxx and he saw my invoice for 27k.

Don't do it. I got mine for $29,500 w/o a sunroof back in April with 2 miles on it. I'm from NYC and drove to PA. About $30 in gas and tolls.

Yeah, over invoice for a car that has been driven a few times is not a good deal. With 19 miles, they should cut the price down.
Go for invoice.

You guys should consider yourself lucky, I paid exactally 33,886.24 was my grand total tax, etc. Sunroof, alarm, rear carbon spoiler. and it had 12 miles on it and thay were my miles, so I say if you can get one for under 30g's go for it. Or just wait till the o4s come out and get the cleaned out basic Evo 8, for even less.

I just spoke w/ a guy from carsdirect. Part of the difference here may be the region of the country I'm in. Even if their prices are high, there is a huge variation around the country.

The lowest carsdirect price in my area is 30,400. Obviously way too high, so I thought it was BS. But then he looked at the cars direct price in other parts of the country. Some place, like GA and FL their price is $1500 below invoice.

Again I don't know a lot about carsdirect's rep but this guy was really into the import scene. His advice was to take the one from dealer for 29500 - even w/ the 19 miles, since they can't even come close to the price in my area or in MA, PA Del or VA. Closest place for a deal is GA and since I work as a freelance video producer, the cost from airfare and a few days not working doesn't make sense.

Not necesarily true - people just dont go around advertising to the world the price they paid.
I'm reluctant to give the price i paid because i dont want to cause frction in the dealer network.
