I'm sure anyone who's considering of buying a high-performance car like an Evo would surely sacrifice anything, especially fuel economy, in exhange for the power. Most people probably know their drawbacks but like trev555 said, the rewards are worth it.

Like most people here, they buy a V8 SUV and complain about fuel economy. They want a V8 with a fuel economy of a 4 cylinder...No one in his right mind would buy a V8, V10, or V12 and complain about fuel economy. You get great power but there has to be something in return...right?

Have you seen the option for the Evo 7 having 2 gas tanks? I saw it in a magazine, but the problem is the 2nd gas tank will be installed in the roof of the car. So there will be tremendous weight increase and drag. Pretty useless I suppose.

Yes! On my first track day I had to go find a gas station halfway thru the day because i went thru a full tank so fast.

Next time i'll be bringing my own supply.

What fuel are you running on your Evo? What's the highest octane there in Australia?

I run BP Ultimate 98. It's 98 octane which is the highest rated pump fuel you can get in Australia. Any higher and you'd need aviation fuel or octane boosters.

It's worth noting that octane measurements are different in different countries so 98 octane in Australia might not be 98 elsewhere.

Yeah I agree with you. Like in our country for example, gas companies here do false advertisements on their gas octane. Well, the highest possible here is a 97+ according to them. The others we have are 93 & 95. We don't even know who test their gases for octane ratings.

It sounds like you use the same system for measuring as us. 97 octane is considered 'premium' and regular i think is about 95.

Too bad we're not in Japan - our cars were designed for their 100 octane fuel.

Yeah I agree. I hope we have those 100 octane fuels here. I'm not sure if we're using the same as the US but our "premium" is the 95 octane. "Super" is the 93 octane. "Super premium" is the 97+. I hope they import those in Japan and call is Super duper Premium...hahaha

There's 115oct at a gas station about a mile from my house. And 100oct about 20 miles North at a Sunoco (too far to drive)

Does anyone know of any problems using 115oct in an Evo would cause? The standard for premium here in the states is 93oct and I hear you guys using 97+oct.

Yes, you can't use that 115 racing fuel. It is leaded not unleaded. Unless you want to cause major problems with your car that is.
