The cobras, and all mustangs for that matter have horrible chassis, I use build mustangs for a company know what it takes to make a mustang fast and handle well. About 10k in chassis work to get it as solid as an evo.

I must say, I started out building Mustangs, and finally stepped up to the plate and bought an Evo. Having gone from an 03 Cobra to an Evo, I will tell you that if you like handling, you won't like the 03' Cobra. It's big, has tons of understeer, and spins. Most any Mustang over 350-400hp (depending on gearing) will be worthless on the street. What fun is that? My 03' Cobra with a built solid rear axle, drag springs, upper and lower control arms, drag radials etc, didn't hook until 3rd gear on the street at 475whp.

Now that's right where the power level is at on my Evo, and I must say that it is a WORLD of a difference between the two, and I would never consider going back to the Mustang world.

I had a built Foxbody with every suspension part (for road racing, not drag) you can buy, and it handled great, but the Evo in stock form poops on it in every way....

Just the .02 from someone who made the switch.

yea i argee with everyone else, if u look into a cobra go with the 03-04 model year, not only were they fast as **** stock but can make some mean power when modded just a little bit.

if not keep searching for an evo, a good one should come up for a reasonable price

1. Everyone has one (a lot more common than the evo)
2. They are just good for noise
3. With a couple of mods its hard for a cobra to catch you
with an evo

evo=mongoose in this case

You should go post this same question on the Cobra forums and see the reaction.

This almost made me go over there and post it. It would be amusing to see the opposing answers. Hahahah

There have been a few 600 whp 03-04 Cobras up for trade on EvoM over the years. They're total beasts but I guess losing to less powerful Evos all the time because you can't put the power down gets old after a while.

As people have said, stay away from anything other than 03-04 Cobras. If you find one of those, drive both and see which you prefer. I'd love to have a Cobra alongside my Evo any day.

When I sold my Mustang and bought an Evo I started up a thread on my Mustang forum, and reaction was no less than satisfying.

You're not kidding either!

And that's just for starters. You would have to upgrade brake system, add a supercharger/turbo to the motor, etc... You would have a better time modding an Evo than modding that Cobra.
