Great feedback everyone. I planned on using OEM parts. Just trying to find the best price. I know how important this service is and something you want to get right the first time. I can do the work myself so not worried about that. I still may pay a shop to
Do it cause it's cold out and getting tired of not working on a lift. I am 5k away from 60 so want to get the parts in the next week or so.

Not bad you get pretty quick after you've done a couple.

This kit helps tremendously http://www.jayracing.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=214

Just be careful. A lot of shops out there advertise as OEM parts and they are not.

Yeah, be careful as Emery says. Some kits might come with a different idler that has a different bearing. I know in subarus, it's double bearing but the "fake" kits that claimed oem were single bearing and weren't like the oem idlers.

Emery are the evo idlers, double or single bearing out of curiousity?

I actually had a similar problem with my dealer, they only wanted to change MOST of the fluids (leaving the rear diff untouched), put on some new wipers, and rotate the tires, not even touch anything else.

I ended up having to show them the recommended Mitsu service from two different sources before they finally agreed.

What? You gotta replace belts?

Just kidding. I would get a kit from a vendor here. Like STM or mitsubishiparts.net.

Good Luck. May your 60K service be the first of many!

+1 for STM kit.
About to buy mine from them soon, just recently did all my other recommended services for 60k and got all my fluids/parts there, helps that I live right next door to the shop as well lol.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff of course too!

Unlike many others on this forum i'm actually a A.S.E. certified master technician and a Mitsubishi master technician that works at a dealer,i do this for a living every day,and in my 15 plus years of experience i have yet to see more than 1 or 2 tensioners or pulleys fail on a 4G63,where exactly you get your info from is beyond me,but if you want to believe what some "VENDOR " wants to tell you that "you" need or just for the peace of mind go right ahead it's your money, waste away, but to say it's bad advise,i don't think so,i depend on my experience to know what usually goes bad or doesn't.I have worked at 3 different Mitsubishi dealers in my time with Mitsu not even one offered pullies with their timing belt kits, that's from experience not hearsay.

I think it's mainly peace of mind like stated, nothing entirely wrong with installing new oem parts as long as they're done right, well most of the time.

Actually Mitsubishi doesn't,the only thing Mitsubishi recommends every 60K is the timing belts, accessory belts and a full inspection of all related parts, dealers and vendors push the "other parts" to make that cash.At the Mitsu dealers i've worked at we have never offered pulleys or tensioners as part of the timing belt kit,we only offer them as needed after a full inspection has been performed,i know since i've been doing this for a living for a living for the past 15 years,I'm always well aware of vendors trying to use scare tactics to push their products, telling people they need to replace absolutely everything or otherwise catastrophic failure can happen, personally don't like it,i think is disrespectful to to prey on the fears of the people to sell a product,of course imo!
