Is this evo 8 worth it?

03 Evo 8 with 118,000 miles. They are asking $12,995. I think that's too much and could hopefully talk them down. How much do you guys thinks its worth? Here are some pics...

http://modules03.dealercarsearch.com...spx?id=1576146

I was going to call and ask some questions such as how new is the clutch, has the transfer case ever been replaced, any mods, etc. If there is anything else I should ask please tell me. Im not sure whats going on inside the trunk.

Here is the carfax. Last thing it says is "sold at auction as a fleet vehicle" Ive read that could mean it wasn't privately owned. It could of been a rental. Anyone ever hear of an evo being a fleet vehicle? I also noticed the car was repossessed from the last owner.

Idk how these cars do with higher mileage, but this kid I know tried to convince me that: "Evos SUCK when they get up there in mileage. when **** starts breaking down, it doesn't stop"/

He's ignorant around cars so I'm not heeding his warning. But what's everyone's experience with higher mileage Evos around here? Sorry to threadjack.

On Topic:
I think that's too pricey for the mileage. About ~$1,000+ too pricey compared to what I've seen on clist.

Miles on a car dosent really mean that much. Can have a car with 100ka and never beaten on vs 30k and beaten on everyday. Also our cars are great with miles. 4retec has 250k+ and nothing major.

Talk them down a little bit. Go check it out with someone that knows evos if you dont know what to look for. Looks like it was given good care.

I paid that for one that had 88k on it. Bone stock and 2 owners. If the paint is good and not alot going on with the body i would try to get them down as much as you can and take it.

since it seems like all the "maintenance" work was done at Global Auto Mall, NONE of the routine maintenance are listed in there. i.e. no 15k, 30k, 45k, 60k, etc., etc

find a better car

The wires in the trunk are for an aftermarket sound system. Things that caught my eye? Missing panel on left side of trunk. Also in the engine bay, open cone filter, no exhaust manifold heat shield, and what looks like a blue vacuum line near the filter, possible MBC? Just what I saw.

Bought my '04 Evo with 96k for $12k and in the year I've had it all that's happened is two dead lifters which are being replaced during timing belt job. It's got 113k on it now and the KBB on it is over $13.5k. Doesn't leak or burn a drop of oil, stock besides ACT 6 puck, exhaust, Grimmspeed MBC, GFB BOV and Perrin Intake. Absoultely love the car, but I also know the vehicle was daily driven it's WHOLE life, never raced once and came from Cali. Do your research, check the car out in person and possibly at a different shop - not the dealer selling it obviously - and use your best judgement!
