Just got a 140k mile evo

Hey all, about 2 weeks ago, i got a 140k mile evo, it is mostly highway miles and the car is in GREAT condition. It runs great and was taken care of very well. It only has an intake and a catback exhaust for now, doing more down the road, but first i want to maintain it well.

So, to get to the point, what do you guys think i Should do at this point in the car that is very important? The timing belts are good until about 160k miles, and all of the fluids were just changed along with getting a new ACT hdss clutch and ACT flywheel. I want to have this car forever and I really would like to maintain as well as possible so any advice is appreciated =)

P.S. I did check the maintenance schedule thread, but I feel like it is more help if I just get advice from users on what is necessary to change out at this mileage to keep it runnning smoothly.

I would check the struts and springs, motor mounts, and most of the bushings might be going at this point. I see you're in Jersey so check for rust/salt damage.

I would go through the whole car and make sure everything is in tact. Also it probably wouldnt hurt to do a Compression check on the motor. Even if it was taken care of, it still doesnt hurt to check. Congrats on the car and enjoy it!

congrats on your purchase. You may want to consider a boost leak test also.

Toms River NJ. and ya I really wanna do a boost leak test, and my next upgrades are going to be an MBC and a boost gauge, air/fuel ratio gauge, and an oil pressure gauge probably, idk which other one would be good, because I have a 3 pod pillar that i want to fill up lol.

but back to subject, im very happy with the purchase and I will DEFINITELY be getting it inspected on a lift sometime soon.

i got an 03 evo with almost 191k miles..do a boost leak test, with that mileage you will have boost leaks, front strut mounts start to knock, inspect sway bar links, and the rest regular maintenance/wear n tear parts.

Goodluck with it, even with my mileage i enjoy every second of it and runs as good if not better than most evo's i see around my way with 1/4 of the mileage

I know my car too, the reason i bought it was because it was bone stock and i cant find that when buying evos and the carfax showed how well they maintained it, so i knew it was the one lol. and ya sometimes when i idle there is this weird knocking ( sounds like a loose screw somewhere ) dont know what it is , but my car runs immaculate so it cant be that bad...

but ya def. boost leak test asap
