Did you buy a USED Evo?
i have got 2 of them
first was
2003
45,000 rebuilt title
No problems
(i did all my work my self) like normal up keeping
second one
2003
92,000 clean title
problems: i got cheap being the clutch went out on the guy and he just wanted what he owed for it.
AC went out i just removed it all as i wanted to build this evo anyway
just the other day the alternator went out.
i again did everything by my self (about to do timing kit shortly)

2006 TB GSR
32000
Needed a proper tune. I have changed a few mods and cosmetic parts the previous owner did poorly.
Only issue is that the megan headers cracked and had to drop the turbo to get them out.
I did buy my previous 2003 AS GSR brand new and I would have preferred to buy my IX new. Don't buy a heavily modified car. The closer to stock the better.

1) 2006
2) 28,000
3) It needed brakes when I bought it and it needed a clutch shortly thereafter but that's to be expected.
I grinds a bit going in and out of gear and goes "garrah garrah garrah" since i've had it. but I just past 60K and now the mods are going in. BBK Full going in this week. S2 cams going in next month.
car is solid. the only problem is the catching the mod bug and spending an entire signing bonus on it.
1. 1995
2. 80k km
3. The stuff you would expect from an older vehicle. I had a brake caliper lock up the second day I was driving it. The roof is currently rusting through (known problem for this model), and I and leaking oil out of the valve cover. Really not to bad all things considered.

This thread is kind of pointless. How a car was cared for is going to have a lot more to do with repairs/maintenance than year/mileage/mods. Searching will also give you a lot of information along with stickies to properly purchase an evo that won't empty your wallet on repairs. Best of luck.
Also, PLEASE take someone with you who knows evos to look over a prospective purchase.
