Yeah it probably is, the main reason I wanted to do this is so I could have the stock deep evo noise which I like but alot louder, but based on comments of people who have it, doesn't really sound like it will be :/ I just want a good loud setup that will **** off the neighbors xD haha

Just get a cat back. Or a tbe if you have the cash would obviously be the best option....but yea tp isn't loud at all.

I didn't notice a noise increase but it did help with power increase. Anyone that says adding a test pipe and it being a waste of money doesn't know much obviously since the stock cat is very restrictive.

No I didn't cut it off. The Factory muffler bolts up so I just unbolted it. I prolly wouldn't do it again though lol and to let you guys know, there was an increase in power. If you look at dyno's a cat back exhaust hardly does anything for power. The DP and TP are where the most restriction is.

I am running a stock exhaust with a 3" test pipe because i thought it would be an easy place to mount an O2 sensor for a wide band. Didn't really notice any sound difference with it and i've had some issues with exhaust leaks because the flanges on the TP don't mate up with the stock exhaust very well because of the size difference. I would recomend Tephramod if you do this, love the rear O2 simulator.

To help the OP I also just replaced the dp and TP. It did change the sound a little bit but not much. The best results were, it freed up some power. Not a bad way to spend $200.

I kept the stock cat back for about 4-6 months. Until I got pissed off for having a "loud exhaust". Then I did what ElectricBlue did. I unbolted the axle back. Which picked up even more power and a WAY better sound.

I got rid of that "setup" for a real cat back when I realized that without the muffler my tail lights were gettin smoked out and my car stunk.

Unbolting the axle back left the stock exhaust facing straight up into the body. That's why it stunk up the car and smoked out my tail lights.

But your best bet it buy a used cat back from the forums. I got mine for $140 used in mint condition. Don't waste the money if your not gonna change the cat back.

Thanks that was very helpful, I do already have a Megan racing 3" dp to add onto the tp, however i do not want smoky tail lights due to stinky exhaust if I remove the muffler..I might just go with a cat back like you suggested, I'm surprised it doest get alot louder though...I guess it's the resonators.
