Invidia q300 louder with test pipe?

Hey guys. I just installed my new invidia q300 cat back yesterday and took it for a drive today and noticed that its not loud at all. I am running stock cat and downpipe for now until I can get a tune. My question is, has anyone ran the q300 for a while then put a test pipe/down pipe on? Doug's the exhaust get louder afte installing test pipe or down pipe. The exhaust looks sweet but just is not loud at all. I want to be able to hear it with the windows up but that's not the case. It almost sounds stock now.

I have no experience with the q300, but my mxp catback was deeper and slightly louder than the stock. When i added the tomei ti testpipe it really brought it to life, made it probably 3x louder than before, added a more aggressive growl and WOT sounds amazing. I do not have a downpipe but from my research, the recirculated and widemouth downpipes do not have any affect on the volume but it may make it a bit deeper. If you want a difference in sound, the o2 dump will scream when you give it a bit of throttle. I hope this helps, I'm most likely going to be going with the ETS o2 dump myself.

yeah o2 dumps sound amazing. my buddy who details my car, took me for a rip in his IX that has an o2 dump on it. He did a 1st gear pull and ever since then, i've fallen in love with the sound. Who are you getting tuned with?

The other thing you have to factor in is the exhaust will get louder as the miles pile on. My Buschur crossflow was very quiet when I first put it on, but now growls pretty loud with stock cat and downpipe.

If your not atleast going to do the test pipe the catback is not going to do that much to change the sound.

I drove with the q300 cat back for about 6 months before I put the test pipe on. There was a big difference in the sound with the test pipe. Its slightly louder at idle and while cruising but at WOT it sounds completely different from before. Love it!

All exh gets louder once a test pipe is put on. The honeycomb part of the catalytic is very restrictive

try something

Stuff a kitchen hand towel in your mouth and scream. Note the volume

Take the rag out and scream. Notice how its a lot louder because you removed the restriction?

Good example.

Like others said, all exhausts will get louder with testpipe.
