Thanks.
What else do you suggest me to change while getting 3rd gear synchro changed?

Also what could be the consequences for not changing and keep running a bad synchro?

This is a problem I have but it's also 5th gear.... Common problem...Jacks trans says evo 8-9 units have suffered from premature 5th gear wear that will cause grinding.... Anywho.... They found synchro ring stops are too thick and will not allow for proper contact with slider teeth... Idk, I just drive mine like it is, I'll have it rebuilt later on... Google your problem, it's common

Wow, if that's the case I may have to give that a go. My third does the same, quick shifts (or cold shifts) into third and it feels like the stick is "knuckling under", probably the same thing as the grind. A gentle press in will yield no grind. It's been that way since I bought it.

Techghost, how long has it been since you put the new fluid in?

Yes! its gone completely not even there at high RPMs.

I had this issue since i bought this car, previous owner said that he used Mobile gear oil as soon as i bought my car i changed all oil to OEM mitsubishi oils but grinding noise increased. it started to come even when i downshift to 3rd from 4th.
Last week i changed my all oils again and this time i used redline shockproof.... and BANG!!! its smooth as silk

a week already

Bump - how's the Shockproof, still holding? Even if I have to swap it out twice a year, if it prevents the grinding I'm on it.

yes its still holding and i'm loving it. i use to have problems in getting my car in first gear when i wanted to downshift at speed on 10km but even that is gone now. Gearing is smooth

^^ yes this is the one i've used.

@tureblue
I'm not sure if this will work for you or not i think this depend upon the condition of synchro as well if they are in bad shape or gone completely then shockproof will not be able to remove this grinding.
In my case it worked; i never ever used redline gear oils before in any car. Very much satisfied with the outcome
