Regardless, the way in which the OP's friend acted after his car blew up, as well as his friends lack of respect towards the OP's property says something in and of itself.

I only let 2 people drive my car, my tuner, and the wifey. The wifey is scared of the power so I am not worried about her doing something dumb in it. I hope you can get something out of your "old friend". ****ty stuff happens when people dont respect your car.

What does this mean? Did u see the date? I've daily driven my car since then including driving nonstop to California in December.

Im not going to give away toms tuning style but there are people making more power than me on stock blocks n still living.

As for being naive, ok. Personally ill take the 7k hit to learn the character of someone I thought to b a friend. Then to learn in the end when they take more than jus that

Indeed. And, I hope it doesn't cost you $7K! (unless you're not doing the installation yourself).

Delete this thread then tell authorities he stole it and held you by knife/gunpoint. :l
Honestly though, you're going to have to play dirty pool with this crook if you want to get anything out of it from him, by the sounds of the type of person he is.
Otherwise you're just going to have to take the hit and cut your losses by learning your lesson and never associating with him again.

honestly im nearing the end of the rebuild.

obviously upgrading was the logical choice, so im just waiting for English racing to finish my motor. and all in all yes 7k is about what its gonna cost.. thats not that outrageous.

ive already paid for most and will be able to "afford" the rest.

as the build was "commencing" he would check in on me and tell me how he was going to "blow" all the $ he had.. eventually got on my nerves. so eventually i played a lil game, told him i couldnt afford to do it so i was going to part the car...

he responded " not to be a dick, but let me buy the seats"

if he pays.. then ok, but im financially ok if he doesnt. he thinks he has no "financial" responsibility. and quote on quote says its like owning a "racecar" then blaming the driver.. def not the case, because i didnt want to race my only working car

and he has continued to offer his "driving" services on a local racing forum, for what he calls a "driver mod" as well as trying to tune peoples cars...

I've let a number of trusted Evo guys drive my car, but anyone who can't keep a motor in one piece is a no, that's a given no matter what you drive.

That's the truth

I used to drive around on race gas all summer long 48psi on the street never had a problem , 640'z awhp on pump gas 32psi all winter and summer never had a problem. I sold my car to some guy in colorado he had the car retuned and blow's it up and had to re-due the entire car. He called me up telling me my car had a failure, I laugh because my car never had a problem the same day he picked it up at ivey's we put the car on the dyno with out touching the tune knocked out 630awhp at like 31psi and showed no sign of a failure. I guess you have to know what you doing with these high power evo's

Three issues here, two of them personal and one of benefit to the community:

1. The friend thing. The OP admits to only knowing the guy for a few months. WTF?

2. Building the motor to the tune of $7K as the "only logical choice," when the no-clutch Civic was said to have, "...left me and my family with no vehicle to get to work or school for the wife." Sure, let's try to build another 300hp/liter daily driver whose reliability is held by a sting, when the family has no transportation. Again, WTF?

3. Why did the motor blow? Folks really should read the thread link'd earlier.

Just by the guys complete lack of respect for you shows he is no friend. He uses and abuses anything and everyone. Has no value to the things he has or had.

Never let anyone drive your car, that you can't trust to respect it or you. I let a few friends drive my car only because they have let me drive theirs in the past and are experienced in high horsepower applications. That said, even if you trust them, make sure they know how to handle it. 300whp may not seem like much but it could easily send the car and your friend around a tree.

If my friend decided to race people without my permission (which they will never get) that is fighting words there. I would take the keys politely or by force. His *** is walking home.

Count your losses and pick up knowing to not repeat the experience. You could send him to small claims court and get some money out of him but that may make matters worse. Nothing like your car being keyed or rock through your window.
