Please do not put a Xw-50 weight oil in your stock block car no thicker is not better in your case.

Mitsu specified a 30 weight oil for a reason

In the past year I've gone from M1 0W-40, to German Castrol, and am now on M1 diesel oil. When it comes to oil, just give me something in the 30/40 grade flavor...preferably an oil that is not overly marketed on this forum.

No just dont use it in a stock engine, but when you have a built motor with larger bearing clearances thicker stuff should be used, look at what all the vendors are using in there race cars. Most of it I've seen is 20w50 in all temps too, I use Rotella T6 5w40 in the winter tho and the 20w50 in the summer

I currently use Mobil 1 (5w-30) but I'm gonna try Amsoil for my next oil change.

Sweet! Well AMSOIL and Mobil 1 seem to be the favorites still.
