Alternator question....
Alternator question....
My alternator took a poop the other night in my '05 evo viii. I saw some older threads with people replacing the alternator with oem ($275). I called autozone and they have a remanufactured one for $89. He said its 90 amps output which I believe is stock. Has anyone had any luck with using something other than oem or should I just bite the bullet?
The one from autozone or advance auto parts is 89 with a lifetime warranty? It's the same amperage output, do u think it could hurt the electrical system? If it takes a crap i could just get another. I got it out in like 30 mins it wasn't as hard as all the threads described it to be.
I will have a fresh oem rebuilt alternator next week if ur interested, I got one used and had it rebuilt swapped it out with the one I had in it and had that one rebuilt. I got a place that will rebuild them in two days with all new oem parts but I just could not go with down time so I swapped it out. If ur interested let me know, I've been dealing with this alternator rebuilder for 12 years and they r the best.
