Custom shift light?

I've always wanted a shift light in my Evo, something relatively subtle looking. I've considered installing one behind a dash vent, as shown in one of the forum DIY tutorials, but I'm afraid that it'll light the dash a bit too much at night. This is kinda what I'm talking about and I don't know if that's for me:

I would love just one small LED mounted stealthily near the dash. Has anyone done anything like this? Any ideas as to how to go about this? Does a product like this already exist?

Hey now!! Outstanding.

Next question, has anyone used this unit? Does this company offer quality products? This looks like exactly what I'm looking for.

I've personally know of two people running their stand alone shift lights with no problems. but not specifically that module. The only reason i remember seeing it is because I was interested in a stand alone shift light or a hidden option also. I think it would work pretty damn good. and its small!

I have a good friend that works at Jegs, so I got this one... it is hidden out of sight, and I am working on a VERY simple, clean shift light as well FJF, will update with my progress.

I have already installed/wired it, and tested it with a bulb, works wonderful.

Excellent info. Please update the thread as things evolve. I haven't done anything yet, but really want to.

IIRC, there was a review of a similar device posted here years ago. I just tried finding it, with some frustration I might add, and failed miserably.
