Yeah that's what the shop said to me. I called my insurance, and told them that my car was brand new, with OEM parts. Not my fault I got hit, and parts to be replace with "aftermarket". That's when he told me that I had the right to request OEM from the shop.

Didn't comfirm if it was insurance rule, state law, or just shop policy.
Can an OEM JDM bumper be ordered here in the states?

When I got rear ended (at a pretty slow speed) the part of the frame that the rear crash beam bolts on to was bent inward =( My JDM rear never did fit right because of that.

Yes I have read countless stories about people using their insurance money to buy after market replacements.

An OEM JDM bumper should be easy to order to replace the USDM rear bumper. Make sure the body shop is reputable and let me know that you will be ordering a different updated bumper. Also they will need to know that they have to order the new crash beam. All these parts should be available through mitsubishiparts.net

I think it depends on your insurance on whether or not parts get replaced with LKQ. At least that what I've seen from previous threads like this.

Got my insurance check today. I'm going to be ordering my parts tomorrow, however I am a bit confused. If I buy the demonwerkz crash beam to go with the bumper, what other parts do i need to buy? License plate bracket? License plate lights? Bumper reinforcement?

get the money from insurance for the damage, and put whatever you need towards the JDM rear and the tails out of your pocket. then try to find a good reputable shop to get everything installed.

I think it would run you cheaper that way.
