salvage to rebuilt title

I have some questions for anyone who has gone through the process of rebuilding and geting titled.
I purchased the car from someone that got the car from someone that started to half *** rebuild it. Short story is guy I bought it from thought it had a rebuilt title but recieved salvage title and it needed to be inspected yet. He told me car needed minor work then inspection, not the case.
Everything that was done was not going to pass. It had fiberglass front bumper with no crash beam for example. I have gotten oem parts and got it about done but the thing is I dont have any pics of the damage before it had been half *** fixed. Is that going to be a problem when inspection comes?
I am in WI.

Just take the aftermarket front bumper off and whatever aftermarket exterior parts that were put on the car. Take the bumper reinforcements off also and then take pictures of it and say that is how you got the car. There should not be a problem then. Make sure EVERYTHING works, they go through it pretty good to make sure everything works.

you need to find out from your DMV what is required to return to rebuilt. Out here in NJ, It's not that easy. The entire rebuild needs to be documented and photographed with receipts for parts replaced.. If I recall from when I was Evo shopping..

Every state has it's own rules..

I think I'll take ExtremeDSM approach to get the photos I need. And yes I need the receipts for the parts, which i have. I guess I was just asking to know how important the pics of the damage before hand were going to be.
Thanks.

i've done it. i think there is 2 legit ways, do it yourself with documented pictures of actual progress with time stamp, and documentation of purchased parts as well as documented labor. or what i did was do it all myself to full functional order and had inspector come check. the car i bought was a non rolling frame. soooo... take it for what its worth. the car has to literally be deemed legal and safe for road use, thus safety beams/ air bags need to be there when inspected. thats how it was in texas, so i guess depending on your dmv

He just needs pictures of the damage before it was fixed which he can't do so that is why I said to do the pictures of parts removed. Also will need parts list, receipts and VIN #'s of any used parts.

Call up your state and ask. It varies by state.

Thanks. Did that. Setting up the inspection with DMV inspector. Was just curious how it turned out for tripper, or anyone that has done it before.
