Oil Change

So I went to the dealership today to get my oil changed. After an hour the service guy comes out to get me n tells me my car is done. As we r walking back so I can pay he says oh by the way we didn't have any Mobil 1 so we just put Castrol Edge in it. I said wtf y didn't anyone tell me this before u put it in. The only oil I have ever used has been Mobil 1. So my guestion to u guys is the Castrol better the Mobil or should I get it switch out ASAP?

Its not going to make a diffrence. They are both synthetic oils. As long as he used the right viscosity you'll be fine. If you have the means , perhaps you can do your own oil changes. That way its done exactly they way you want with the oil you choose.

It was pretty rude of them not to consult you before filling with a different oil. Castrol edge is a good oil, you won't have any issues.

I've been using castrol edge 5w30 in my IX, as did the previous owner and have had no issues. Is my engine due to die?

+1 to doing your own engine oil change.

Thanks. It really pissed me off that they waited till the end to tell me about it. The more research I do I find they r really the same. But it's just the fact that I always used Mobil 1.

Like others said, they should have mentioned something but doesn't surprise me they didn't.

I wouldn't loose sleep over it. If it bothers you, change but I'd just run it.

Castrol oil is fine. I've been using Castrol GTX Dino oil for years in my high mileage WRX.
