Anyone have the downforce specifications of the rear wing? Also, I'd like to get the car's aerodynamic 'lift' specs too.

I noticed the manual talks about some cars(euro?) having an adjustable rear wing. Anyone have more info on that as it relates to the Evo VIII? (not interested in Evo VII info unless its the same wing)

The US spect rear wing is not functional as I read in Motor trent magazine.....

The USDM O3 model year Evo VIII does not have an adjustable wing. Apparently the manual went to print before the final wing design was set.

I've read that the wing is functional above 85mph. I haven't seen downforce or lift specs on the Evo, though.

i could have sworn the wing generates something like 70 lbs at 60mph, or something close... but it's definitely functional, b/c it was touted as generating more force than the evo vii's wing.

Plus, im pretty sure it it adjustable, someone on here was able to do it in the 1st few weeks these cars were out. you need to pull out the interior CF panels in the wing, and there are 2 more settings that the wing will adjust to.

Same here...regardless of if you like the wing or not, I've read it does create downforce at speeds above 85.

Gives that car the "planted" feel that I can only dream about for now...

85 and above is a speed that can be achieved relatively easily and without fuss...dare I say that huge attention grabbing wing is indeed functional

You might want to read the whole sentence in Motor Trend next time.

I believe it says that the wing is not functional until you are above a certain speed.

I’ve been meaning to see if I can find the wing, or something close, in the NACA airfoil books. It does seem to have a reasonable cross-section. Anyone have the chord, maximum thickness and how far aft the maximum thickness is achieved?

talalhz, the Motor Trend guy thought it was neutral, but he did not know for sure. I think he said something to the effect that more downforce on the rear would result in more understeer, which makes sense. I think this would more applicable at lower speeds, but the wing is not really effective in that region.

The wing is definately functional. However, I thought it was 87mph where the downforce comes into play.

i believe that it is functional. The angle of the chord is not parallel with the ground. The angle of attack is aprox 20 degrees. As the air flows on the roof of the evo, it transfers the force to the wing and creates a downforce. That is why the wing is so high. Ofcourse it would have be at a certain speed to cause a noticeable downforce.

Acording to Mitsu the wing is functional at speeds of 80mph or higher.
