Prosport Hood Dampers

My damn hood prop clip broke and thats a great excuse to add a little functional bling.

These seem to be the cheapest readily available hood dampers that anyone here has recommended. Does anyone else have experience with these prosport hood dampers and know they will last?

I'm looking for high quality, such as the mynes that so many swear by, but they are simply no longer available as far as I can tell.

Help!

Never heard anything about that particular brand but I've had the Redline hood props on my car for several years with no issues.

You could have PM'd me, lol.

I've had them on my car since I got the car back in March '10. They've been holding up just fine with no problems.

I have the sentra 00-02 ones and I don't know the difference between these and the ones made for the Evo.

that's a damn good price: http://www.hptmotorsports.com/redlin..._evolution.php

but they require putting holes in fenders which others don't...

I already got your opinion. was hoping to get some backup the way I found with the mynes.

But thanks for the pointer.

i've never heard of any bad things with hood dampers for people going the cheaper route.
the only thing i can see "bad" is the gas gets released over time and doesnt prop your hood up. but again never heard.
i picked up some used cf hood props, no brand from another member. they work fine.

I was just going through the intarweb looking for Sokie reviews and they have a solid rep at many other forums, minor fitment issues here and there. One warning was cold weather use in canada but they were tested ok down to 20 degrees by someone else which is the worst we get 'round here.

I think I'm going to give them a try.

Thanks.

The verbiage was:
"
SOKIE TECH GAS HOOD DAMPER KIT. Sokie Tech has over 20 years experience with pneumatic and hydraulic pressure technology. This highly durable hood damper kit enables you to open the hood without the hood rod (which can interfere with some parts installation and some stock mount aftermarket intercoolers). The kit features Real Carbon Fiber casing design for strong support, heat resistance and shape retention. The installation can be done with simple hand tools in 10 - 25 minutes. This damper Kit includes brand new gas dampers and custom machined brackets to fit the specific vehicle for installation.
Condition:
Brand New
Body Color:
Black Carbon Fiber
Warranty:
1 Year
Including:
Other All Accessories Included
Injecting by:
Nitrogen Gas
Damper:
Stainless Steel
"

These work and look great. My only complaint is a few times they seemed a little slow and failed to extend all the way but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. The little clips on both ends have also started to rust which looks like *** but the rest of the part still looks and works like new.

[EDIT, 10/12/14] now that the temp has dropped a bit it seems clear they will no longer raise the hood at all by themselves once it gets a little less than balmy. They now require assistance all the way to the top where, at least for now, they hold it just fine.
