Difference of Evo 8 10.5 hotside vs 9.8?
Im wondering if anybody has or knows the difference between putting a 10.5 hotside on a stock 8 turbo. in comparison to the 9.8 stock. Maybe somebody has dyno sheets or knows the exact gain. Thanks. Plz help...
It's worth it if ur trying to squeeze every bit of power out of an 8 turbo. Only good for about 10whp. If ur gonna be removing the turbo for some reason and can find one cheap then go for it. Beware buying used ones tho because there's a divider wall in the housing that separates the scrolls surrounding the turbine wheel that is known to crack. I bought a used housing and ran it for one season and when I removed the turbo I noticed the crack and had to buy a new housing for about $300. Find a used 9 turbo if u want a decent upgrade...the install would be about the same anyway and is much more cost effective

im running an 8 turbo with a 10.5 hotside and its worth about 10awhp peak and u can feel it at from 4-7000 rpm. i personally dont think its worth it to upgrade to an evo 9 if you already have the 10.5 hotside. for all that work you only get a little more hp. why not just save up and get a green, red, or black or even better and get a bbk-B and call it a day.

The 10.5 hotside will hold boost better in the upper rpm range. If you dont have an o2 housing yet you can squeeze out a few more horsepower. The pair together helps relieve the bottle neck the 9.8 suffers from giving you less back pressure. There is a thread Buschur racing has where they netted over 20 whp from the swap.

the result of 20whp or wuteva is not solely from JUST the 10.5 housing swap. its the o2 housing as well as the 10.5 that netted the gain.
Yes, what SujinX says. Assuming you dont have an o2 housing, if you are going to change the hotside then you should change the o2 housing as well. It is much easier to swap the turbine housing and o2 housing together at once. SujinX, please comment if I left something open for mis-interpretation. Lol!
yes. put down 416 on VD on 93 pump.
