i have an 05' evo 8 MR edition. i sold my cat a while back now i need it to sell my car so the buyer can smog the car when registration time comes around. i found a guy selling an evo 9 cat. will the 9 cat pass smog on an 8 ecu?

Not relevant to your problem here in Cali though.

The IX cat will work on an VIII. If I remember right the rear 02 is placed differently between the two though.

 

It works. It just takes a while.

 

i got to the thread it just wasnt opening the vid. and im not trippin if the O2 fits differently. lol the guy buying my car just wants a cat with the car so its his problem to put it on.

Move to a state that does not smog your car, and keep it registered there. You dont want to deal with california smog.

 

unless your car was smogged in the past 90 days, the new owner will need a valid smog certificate in order to register it in his/her name. legally, it's the responsibility of the seller to smog the car before selling in CA.

 

^ its going to Nevada. i dont think that would apply to me since its leaving cali..

 

At least your doing the rt thing and making sure he has all the parts.
