soooo my ballast took a **** on me. decided to google the stock part number located on the box ... its like 500 bucks. wtf.
is there anyway i can just buy aftermarket lamps that will plug right into the stock harness?
or has anyone done a chop job in which they cut the harness and made one fit?
its part number MR574777 btw

The ballast does not determin your light color output the hid bulb does. So if it is a like OEM ballast at a price you feel comfortable paying then give it a try. Or find someone selling hid housings with the ballast still installed.

The biggest thing most stock HID's include the igniter with the bulb. hense the expense. Aftermarket systems are alot cheaper I get my HID's through a company called KENSUN you can find them on amazon they have a plug and play kit for $100's replacement bulbs are $20 a pair. plus there customer service is amazing. Stock setups are expensive I will never get a vehical with stock hid's.

Evo's with stock HID's will need either the correct ballast (correct plug for OEM) or you will need to snip the plug, put in a 9006 plug, and get a aftermarket ballast with a 9006 plug

the bulbs are d2s yes, but the ballasts are not. they are a special plug that is exclusive to the ballasts used on whoever manufactures our ballasts
