Out of curiosity, how did you not notice that they car you were about to buy had an aftermarket turbo/boost controller solenoid on it? You say it's the first Evo you've had with aftermarket stuff on it, did you not notice any difference in performance compared to the stock ones you've had?

But, as the others have said, it's a solid, responsive turbo - haven't heard much (anything) negative about them.
